    The Dynamics of a Perfect Storm . . . Deb W.

    1) There is a hurricane coming up the eastern seaboard expected to make a direct hit in the NY/NJ area.

    2) I live in NJ and really, really need some more aggravation in my life.

    3) When you think of NJ - who do you think of?  Bruce Springsteen.

    4) One of Bruce Sprinsteen's most famous songs is Fourth of July, Asbury Park (Sandy).

    5) The name of the hurrican expected to hit?  Sandy.

    6) The 3rd horse in the 7th race at the Meadowlands today is named JerseyStormCat.

With all of these events converging at once, I fully expect to have about 22 feet of water in my basement soon.  Therefore, Jamison and I will be swimming to your house Tina, sometime on Monday afternoon.  Make sure you open the door for us !!!

You neglected to add that Karen is due to fly out of NYC on Tuesday evening :(

First time in my life I've had a storm with my name; we don't often make it to the "S" names.  We've been advised to prepare for several days of no power.

Stay safe, everyone along the East Coast!

Absolutely! Pack your long undies; we may see snow. Oh, and throw a couple bucks across the board on JerseyStormCat before you leave. Stick out tongue

Seriously - those of us in New England don't think about this, but we really need to clear out our gutters.  All those leaves that suddenly have fallen over the last two weeks are everywhere and will jam things up, causing back-up that could be avoided.  Branches that are now bare and are teetering around looking ready to fall - trim them and take them down now before they become projectiles.

I look around at all the pretty Halloween decorations and think they're going to be toast if their owners don't bring them in.

Last year it was a snow storm that snapped the tops of trees and left us without power.  That was the weekend Cora became paralyzed and I was alone in the 200yr old house with 6 dogs and no power.  I am not a fan of Halloween.

I am with Tina on this one Deb...sounds like JerseyStormCat is a winner!

Stay away Sandy! I need to go to work on Monday and Tuesday. There is data that needs taking. Seriously, I think I want to present something next year using the data that I need to get. That kid lives closer to where it is supposed to hit. I think I should be getting a bunch of rain, but I don't know if we'll get flooding here. Where my client is, it seems like they can expect flooding. Also where they are, it takes them forever to clean up.

Ok -- I'm a good Do-Bee (most of you guys are way too young to have been into Romper Room as wee ones) -- I called Mom & Dad.  yesterday Mom hadn't even HEARD of the storm so I reminded their answering machine this morning to be watchful and have the neighbor come and clean out their gutters (they're 88).

Then Deb -- my boss who is a mega fan of The Boss -- I just copied and pasted your post into an email so he'd know it.

and I'll put a sticky on my printer NOW cos I betcha everyone is gonna need all the help they can get!

Okay -- Deb, that list is just too weird!  I hope it doesn't mean that you'll have 22 feet of water in your basement, but if you do bet on that horse, I hope it means you win big.  At least your winnings could help pay for any repairs you might have to make after the storm!  Wink

I haven't emailed or talked to my Mom in CT today, but I'll check in with her later to see what's happening there.  My sister is in Boston, so they'll both be on alert it sounds like.

I hope all of you who are in Sandy's path, stay safe and I hope the hype is worse than what really happens!

Oh, and Callie --- I was a Romper Room fan, and my mother still uses the phrase "good do-bee" now and then!

And I've had the "mirror  poem" running thru my head as a result of my wise aleck comment "Romper, Bomper, Stomper Boo --- tell me tell me tell me true -- who are all my friends I see in your mirror today!???"

*raising & waving hand* Deb !!!!  I need one of those Hurricanes please ... have lost my mind over here and I really don't think I care much!!

Folks need to take in all those campaign signs, as well.

I have been battling a small leak into my cellar since April.  Tried sealing it inside, no good.  Went outside and dug down along the foundation, set out plastic sheeting, used adhesive to hold it to the foundation, covered it up.  Still coming in.  Sealed around the outside water faucet and both windows in the area.  Still comes in.  GAH!  I now have a bucket in place and will mount a piece of sheeting to the inside wall so the drips get caught.  At least I won't have a mess down there!

Water from this small drip reminds me of mustard -- a little bit seems to spread out a LONG way, ha ha haaa.

Dad is still in hospital and won't be coming straight home, plan is for him to relocate on Sunday to inhouse Rehab.  So at least I don't have to worry about having him here, not sure if that is good or bad.

I posted on FB, everyone along the East Coast should line up facing East and start huffing and puffing (ala Big Bad Wolf with the 3 little Pigs!) to send storm out to sea.  WOW I hit a nerve, I have tons of folks will to give it a try!  Big Smile

That storm is a major topic on the weather reports way over here!  They're referring to it as "Frankenstorm".  Please everyone, stay safe and dry.

Sandie, that's funny!   Native Americans had faith in the power of rain dances, so perhaps your idea is worth trying in order to deter a storm instead of attract one.  Wink

I didn't realize your father was in the hospital.  I'm sorry to hear that, but as you said, it's probably best he's there in case the storm causes power outages and other issues at your house.

Keeping all of you (people and pets) in the storm's path in my thoughts!  We're hearing lots of news coverage on things here, too!
