A bag of dog poop and a note saying "Pick up after you dog!!" at your door.

A bag of dog poop and a note saying "Pick up after you dog!!" at your door.

I have 2 little dogs and I walk them around the blocks several times a day.

We usually walk by many residential houses so I'm always very careful and make sure the doggies do their business as far away as possible from these houses. And of course we always pick up after them.

So it's a bit annoying for me when I see some dog owners in the neighborhood are not as responsible as we are.

Guess what? Today someone left a bag of dog poop and a anonymous note saying "Pick up after you dog!!" at my door.

I was surprised and angry! This is really unfair that I am blamed for someone's behavior.

I almost feel like an complete idiot to even bother so much to pick up my dog's poop with a torch light!

Have you guys have any experience like that?

And please, always remember to pick up!

I don't blame you for being angry.  All you can do is continue to do what you've been doing and shrug it off.  It's a shame you've been blamed for someone else's irresponsible behavior.  I clean up after other people's dog sometimes just to be a good citizen but it's not always possible to carry around enough bags for all the jerks who don't pick up after their dogs.

The person clearly didn't know WHO it was and took a guess.  I agree just shrug it off and keep on doing what you are doing.

With 4 dogs, I make sure I have at least 4 bags on me, although I do use the same bag if 2 go at the same point.  Yet I know one person came out to speak to me once about it.  I was polite, just showed her my pocket full of bags, explained that I know how annoying it is and I don't like it either.

I'm sorry that happened to you.

The shoe is normally on the other foot for us as we live out in the country.  Our road is fairly busy with walkers, runners and bikers, and very often folks walk their dogs on it.  Rarely does anyone stop to pick up after their dogs and it's such a joy to walk outside to weed flower beds and step right in it.

I just spent like $80 on PetCo just for poop bags!! So you can imagine how angry and speechless I was when I saw that bag of poop at my door.

I think I might share the same route with other owners and I walk my dogs at least 3 times a day..

So I was an easy target.... :-(

Maybe next time when I pick up the poop, I'll do it in slow and exaggerated motion so that everyone around me can see it!

As annoying as it is to be unfairly blamed, truly you just need to shake it off and go on.

Many people just assume -- and they want to **Blame** someone.  It's known you have more than one dog so **OBVIOUSLY** (grrrrrr) it has to be you.  Not!!

It's likely not even someone who knows dogs -- only know that they HATE them.  (It's incomprehensible to people like that that most owners actually know WHICH dog did what!)

A friend of mine lived in a townhome community -- she'd been active on her neighborhood board until she got pregnant and then she had to resign just because she didn't carry well.  One night she had JUST walked in with her two dogs (both females) to the phone ringing and an irate voice screaming "YOU DID ***NOT** PICK UP!!!!*

She was confused == she'd been in the common area, but neither of her girls had pooped -- both had simply peed.  She remained calm (not easy) and invited the woman to please please meet her in the common area and SHOW her the offensive pile. "Neither of my girls went, but I have a ton of poop bags on me and I'll be happy to clear away whatever it is!"

The woman actually did meet her --- FULL of fire and brimstone and anger -- and my friend repeated and SHOWED the woman the bags and said 'I was hoping they would because I'll have to walk them again before bed -- but please show me what you have found!"

The woman stomped over and POINTED to exactly where both girls had peed.  There was *no* poop.

My friend said "I don't see anything but yes, both of my girls peed in exactly that spot"

"YOU DID NOT SCOOP!!!!!!! I SAW YOU!!!!! THEY WENT RIGHT THERE!!"

Caron said "Yes, they both peed!"

"NO THEY DID NOT -- NEITHER LIFTED THEIR LEG!!!"

Caron said (trying hard NOT to laugh) "But ma'am -- they're both girls -- they squat.  Male dogs lift their legs.  Girl dogs squat.  You saw them pee -- not poop."

Did the woman apologize?  no.  of course not.

I doubt ANYONE *saw* your dogs -- they identified YOU as someone who walked by their home ergo -- it *had* to be you!

If it were me?  I'd try to find out who it was.  Then I'd leave a nice little "kit" on their porch -- A container of poop bags, some plastic gloves, and a nice note.  I wouldn't be ratty (no matter how mad you are -- you'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar) But say something like "See - I get my bags at Petco and I always get the pink (blue, whatever) ones.  If I have to carry something it might as well be attractive.  I tend to go overboard and I always have gloves as well as poop bags.  Unfortunately you didn't catch the right culprit -- it honestly wasn't my dogs - but it infuriates me SO MUCH when people don't scoop.  Obviously it makes it more difficult on the rest of us.  If you DO figure out who is either walking and not scooping OR if you can identify the dogs who may be allowed to be loose and off leash -- if you'll let me know at 215 Blane Street, I'll get some other dog-woning neighbors together and we'll watch out for them - it would help to know the breed of dog and what time they stopped at your yard."

They'll believe you -- no one who was guilty would bother to be nice.  You won't win, but you'll make a strong point.  YOU scoop.  And not all dog owners are stupid and self-serving.

I am sorry -- it hurts to be "singled out" when you're one of the ones who DOES do it right.  It's very likely someone who is convinced they hate dogs JUST because "they make a mess".

I've had people get mad at me for not scooping while my dog was pooping! I had the bag in my hand, waiting for her to finish. It can be really annoying as I also have multiple dogs so I walk many times a day usually. People see me always with a dog and make the wrong assumption. I also buy the bright colored and patterned bags so people can see them. Right now I'm using neon green. Lol.

I had a woman yell at me one time...I was walking on the very edge of her lawn because street was quite busy.  She yelled at me to get off because my dog COULD poop on her grass, not that she WAS!  I found out a few years later that this woman actually BRED poodles at one time....Hmm

    OH that's rotten!

I make it a point to tie a few poop bags to my leash handle, and I usually get bright orange or red bags so they are extremely conspicuous! :)

Sorry they got the wrong person!

I've been told to pick-up after Tootsie when she peed. People are stupid.
