Sunday Chatting

    Sunday Chatting

The sun is shining, the birds are singing and the snails are eating my zinnias.
    • Gold Top Dog

LOL Jackie! Yay for everything but the snails. I'm not sure why but I haven't had any problem with them this year.

I have the whole house fan running and the cool air coming in feels wonderful. I'm off to pick up a few groceries and then might go do some fun shopping. I'd like to try to find some riding boots. I've wanted some the last few years and never got around to buying any. I really love the Frye boots but there's not way I'm spending that much.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

sun is shining, birds are singing, hawks are screeching, crows cawing, zinnias are happy, Bugsy is in a depression, I am cleaning and relaxing, DH is driving.

I think I'll take Mr. depressed downtown today, there is a huge motorcycle festival which we've attended over the years. Just fun to switch up the territory, plus we can have a short walk that feels longer.

I worry about my sports obsession at times; I have already watched English soccer, am sure to watch some football, the Yankees are on and the conclusion of the golf season is today with a $10 million prize at stake. Great day ahead I think!!

Great morning to all. Cool and sunny, with gunshots in the distance. Duck and goose hunters are either having a great morning, or are missing a lot. Took Piper for an extended run through some short grass. She started working her figure eights about 10 to 20 yards in front, went right into her hunting gait. Somebody shot close by, and Piper started looking to see if anything was falling. She is getting old and doesn't have the stamina for full days hunting, but she has the smarts and experience to make up for that.

Apparently, MN is over run with geese. To the point where they are pests. Farmers can get special permits to harvest pest geese to protect their crops. Maybe need to rent Bugsy for a few days.

Wife is discussing the joys of yard work today. How can you start a conversation with "It's beautiful outside" and continue with " we should clean up the yard".?

    • Gold Top Dog

It's beautiful outside here too.  Chilly, but lovely.  Yardwork has no place in todays plans since I promised the boss I'd go to the apple fest again today and pass out papers.  Doint so gets me a SECOND free run of an ad for one of the shelters needed kitty foster homes.  They are the one that doesn't get any help, community support, etc, like the humane society does.  He wouldn't run the ad for free so I said I'd pay for it myself and I wanted a good rate.  At THAT point he said he'd trade me my work yesterday for the free ad, and when he asked if I'd go again today, I told him it would cost him a second run of the free ad.

I can't volunteer AT the shelters, or they would quickly be empty and my house would be overflowing with critters, but I'll work any other way I can to help them out.  This works out nicely for everyone and I really don't mind walking the streets with newspapers.

So tired. I am practially brain dead.

We saw 2 movies last night (rain forced us indoors). End of Watch and House at the end of the street. Both were very good and not at all what I was expecting.

Two movies would make me brain dead too.  I don't think I could do it no matter how good the movies were but I'm glad you enjoyed them, Julie.

We're off to the home improvement store.  Oh joy.   I'm not feeling all that great today and would like to stay home and veg out but I know I'll be better off doing something rather than sitting around.  Going to this type of store with DH is cruel and unusual punishment as he will take forever choosing a paint brush.

Hope you enjoy your shopping, Cathy.  Same to you, Karen.

Hmmm, at my advanced age...I never knew that the lines on the back of the butter dish which came with my fridge are actually dividing the butter into tablespoons!

How is that for mindless chatter?

He's on his way, I think I heard him mutter 'nirvana' Big Smile

Piper I bet its hard to understand why there are shots but no birds dropping :(

Took Bugsy downtown, its very stimulating so a short walk is plenty. He did great in all the crowds, loud noises and some seriously weird stuff LOL

As a reward I took him to a place that allows dogs on the patio. He was thrilled to say hi to a few other dogs but a greeting with a dachshund was brief - the doxie tried to eat him LOL. It was all fine though, I ordered a side of fries and 20+ people must have fawned on him and fed him fries.  I am ever thankful for dog-friendly people. He sprawled out in between two tables and two different groups accommodated his sprawl, saying "aww don't make him move" Big Smile

Actually, no. She understands that part perfectly. I have been known to miss. Her stare gets really cold.

    LOL!!!

2 movies would do me in too. I have trouble sitting still for one, especially is it's not that good. Glad you liked them both though.

Ooooohhhhhh Jackie - more home improvement projects? I found a cute pair of riding boots at Marshalls. I wanted black and tried on 2 pair I liked the looks of but they were both squeaky like rain boots and that would've driven me crazy. I settled on a very dark brown pair instead and only settled because they were so cheap. I was only shopping for less than an hour but I left feeling super tired and came home and took a long nap with Shane.

I got the top of a lap quilt all pieced and sewn (except the borders). It's going to be one of two that our quilting group is donating to local Vetarans. (We usually do bed quilts, but some of the Vets need lap quilts, so I'm working on those. The top looks pretty good so far.

Took each of the dogs for individual walks on some of my favorite trails--we went to a new place for Mozey and she did pretty well. She wouldn't do the full "loop" but she did better than I guessed she might. Sinbad stepped on an acorn and took a tumble on his walk, but he popped right up and kept going. Peskey acorns hurt when you step on them just right.

Made a pot of chili and just had a bowl. Fall must be here!

I'll be right around to have a bowl if you have some to share! :)

Doug I can imagine the stare ;)

My neighbor has another baby pit as a foster - a  teeny little guy, soooooooooooo cute. Bugsy was thrilled to have a new baby. He seemed especially enamored with this little boy.

I made those zucchini ricotta fritters that Jackie (I think!) had posted the recipe for. I LOVED them but nobody else did. Big surprise. Confused Actually I thought Willa would like them but she didn't. She did try, though. So next time I'll have to half the recipe.

The kids slept over at gramma's last night so DH & I got to go out. His band was playing, along with two others, at a bar. It was a really good time! But I drank a couple of really strong drinks too fast and ended up feeling way more inebriated than I wanted to! I didn't do anything stupid, but I definitely sang along and danced more than I would have! Big Smile Boy oh boy did I pay for it today, though! Ugh.
