    Hello again

I got an iPad finally so after two years I have reliable access to the web, lol! It's still kind of difficult for various reasons too lame and personal to go into here. But I think I'll try to check in here again now. I'm going to start having some interesting adventures and I want to share. :) I think some of y'all know I trained my youngest Border Collie Sam to be a medical assistance dog for me. Training Sam has also dragged me kicking and screaming back into real life again, which was of course kind of the point. However, as I mentioned somewhere else, I'm finding Sam is not able to do the physical work I need. So I'm preparing to start from scratch with a new dog, whom I'm hoping to adopt from Malinois Rescue. I dont have a specific dog in mind yet though one has just recently caught my eye. I've been volunteering with them for a year now, just learning about the breed what i can. We only have five dogs now, by the way (two in their teens), and the sheep are gone temporarily, until my health stabilizes. So my siggie is a bit out of date but at the moment I haven't time to fix it. We have Lu (Maremma 14 yrs), Gus (BC 13 yrs), Ted (BC 7 yrs), Jetta (Terrier/sheltieX 4 yrs), and Sam (BC 3 yrs). And a kitten named Caroline and a few chickens.

My best buddy at my shelter was a female BC mix we called JOJO who was adopted a little while back. I've been a volunteer going on 5 years and this dog on her own learned to heel with no commands,no instructions. She ruined me for life; when you fall in love with a super smart dog,at least for me, you don't want to deal with any dummies anymore. So I understand your choice for you. I recently read a fabulous book called Until Tuesday by Capt. Montalvano;its a story of the relationship between a wounded Iraq vet and his service dog. It might be useful to you in looking for the qualities and tasks you want your dog to do.

Becca it is great to see you again!  Is Sam really 3 already?  How I have missed the stories of the sheep and your dogs.  It will be good to follow your progress with a new dog.
