I saw this article on my computer on MSN. I read it, thought I had to be misreading due to bad eyes, had hubby read it I had read it correctly.
I man in Mass. killed his wife and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility for prole. Well, he decides he realy is a woman in a man's body and want's sex change surgery. AND THE JUDGE GRANTED IT. Said the 8th amendent gives the guy the right to have the surgery--denying him the surgery would be "cruel and unusual punishment." But is that judge going to pay for it? Heck, no, the mass. tax payers will pay for it.
I dobelieve prisoners should be treated as humans, not "animlas (tho some are), and they should have the necessary medical care--dental, tumor removal, appendix, gall bladder, etc. BUT forthe tax payers to have to pay for this killer who will never be out on the street again to have sex change surgery, that is ludicruous. I don't think most insurances would pay for it. I have seen shows on TLC about people who hve had sex change surgery and they saved for years to have it. The guy is being given hormones now.
To me it is opening a can of worms. What about the serila killer who is "mentally distressed" becaue he is going bald and wants hair tranplant. Or the hit man who has decided his ears stick out to far and he is tired of people calling him Dumbo and he wants to have his ears "pionned" so he will not be so embarassed all the time.. Or the gnag member who got his nose broken a couple of times and it is not big and has a hump on it--and people tell him he he looks like that guy with the big nose in that book--can't recall his name. He is so depressed" that he doens't want to eat, and wants a "nose job,. The woman who killed her 2 kids and is 75 pounds over weight and wants liposucktion (put her on a diet.). To men, each of these would hae just as legitimate cause as that they does.
My next door neighbor and goodf friend is a ***. I doubt very seriously if her insuanrce would pay for a sex change for her if she wanted it, nor woul the governement pay for it., But then she is the hard working mother of two teenage boys and has never commited a crime in her life!
Another problem I have with prison system. Ted Bundy killed at least 40 women. I think he admitted to 40, but they think it wa more. Most were college students or other young woman. He was finlaly caught and put on death row ater killed several girls in a dorm in Florida and also killing a little girl. WELL, HE WAS ALLOWED TO MARRY WHILE INPRISON AND FATHER A LITTLE GIRL. How wrong is that! All those women and little girl he killed didn't have the chance to marry and have kids, so why does he have the right to do it while in prison for killing them. SO WRO
