    Labor Day Chat

Enjoying the day off and spending it doing random chores and a nap at some point. :)  DH is making great progress and he even took a few of my suggestions on removing the trim. lol  What a shock.

We took the dogs to the park earlier but it got hot quick and we were all dragging our tongues after an hour.

Ya just had to remind me that I should be doing random chores myself. Crying

I've been up since 5:15, but have been being incredibly lazy today.  Took the dogs out for a long romp in the fields, but that was pleasure, did do a bit of laundry left over from yesterday, but for the most part, have been taking it slow and easy, reading here and then, just lazing.

Looks like not too many people are hanging around posting today!  Hope everyone is enjoying the Holiday.

Looks like it's gonna be a slow day on the forum.  DS #1 is coming over later to swim with the little peanut, but other than that there's not much going on here.

I ordered my 5' skeleton and some bats with flashing eyes. Tongue Tied Grandin Road is having free shipping today, so I figured if I was going to order them anyway, today would be the best time.

My neighbor is going to be visiting relatives in Texas for a week (she leaves on Thursday) and is looking forward to the trip, but not to the himidity.  Can't say I blame her. Right now we're having great weather.  Low 90s in the afternoons and cool mornings and nights.

Hope everyone enjoys the three day weekend!

Happy birthday! I feel old too, but it is not my bday. I just feel like its barreling down on me though and theres nothing stopping it! Sux ;p

    Happy labor day everyone

I broke down and chopped off lilys feathered butt. She is a butt head when it comes to brushing her out back there and yesterday while I was brushing the rest of her I noticed some pretty major mats going on back there. Of course she sat down every time I tried to work on them. It is not easy trying to wrestle a 50canadian lb dog to stand still while you try to demat with one hand. In the end, I chopped it nearly all off and now she looks like a fool. I am kind of embarrassed actually! I love their normally fluffy butts.

Just watched the movie "Secretariat."  Not sure why I hadn't seen it before...probably working too much at the time it came out.  Loved it, but I usually do love animal movies!  At least this one wasn't a tear jerker...

ROFL - I thought "wth?" when I read it and was so glad you posted again about it. omg - too funny!!!

I've sure enjoyed the weekend but it seems to have flown by, as usual. I worked the reactive dog class again yesterday at HB. This time I had an older guy named Rutherford and it took everything I had and a boatload of treats to keep him from barking his head off. Other than it got him out of his crate for an hour or so, I don't think he gained anything from the class. Still, it was nice to get out there for a bit.

I was sitting outside and enjoying the afternoon but it's a bit too warm to stay out there. I can definitely sense that fall is around the corner though and it makes me a little sad. We'll likely have some pretty awesome weather in the next couple of months though, so I intend to enjoy every minute of it.

I haven't seen it, either.  I wanna see it still, too.

I spent the weekend running my club's Obedience show.  Today I spent recovering!  Tomorrow will be running errands and such before I have to return to work on Wednesday.  Ugh.

I was a slacker much of the day, then kicked it into gear and got the cleaning done.  Shouldn't have messed around since the later in the day it got, the worse the humidity.  Supposed to be bad for the next couple of days.  Absolutely MUST get some window units before next summer.  As much as I hate AC, I hate the hot and humid weather more.

Shoot, have to go back to work tomorrow.

Paige, how did the show go? I hope you got in a long nap today!

I didn't do much today--got the kitchen cleaned and some laundry folded. And, I got my school bags packed for tomorrow.

It's quiet on the island tonight. All the summer people left. I like the quiet :-)

OK...off to bed in a bit 'cause 5 am comes early!

     Happy birthday!

We had a pretty good weekend. I didn't end up killing Callie, but she came within minutes of being booted out of the room and into someone's van on Saturday night (not because anyone in the hotel said anything, but because she was driving me nuts and we had an offer of a place for her to stay). On Friday night, she had a really hard time and woke up at any little noise. Saturday she was a bit agitated and nervous at first in the room, but she settled down after a few minutes  and slept the whole night. Either that, or I drank enough on Saturday night that I didn't notice it. I don't really think that's what happened though.

My hands are so torn up from one of the kids I work with. He scratched the crap out of me. I can't wait until tomorrow, when I am done with him until Saturday. I love him, but my hands need time to heal. He got a few that were already scratched, opened them up and made them bleed.

We went to dinner tonight at a somewhat new place, Corner Bakery Cafe. We were going to go to a Deli that I love, but it was closed. We then went to a Chinese place, but they were taking forever since everything else was closed, so they were more crowded than usual for a Monday night. So, we ended up at this place. I was there once before for breakfast, and it was crappy then. The food was okay,  but I waited 10 minutes for them to make a simple egg and sausage sandwich. Tonight verified that I will never go back. I got Mac and Cheese and I thought I was ordering a side salad. Apparently, I ordered a small salad. I'm glad I did though, because the Mac and Cheese was terrible. Over cooked macaroni, had probably been sitting for hours and was reheated. The place is sort of like over priced Panera, but Panera actually has good food. My dad got some pasta, which came in a super small portion. My mom got some soup and salad. For $8, you get half a sandwich, and a cup of soup which is about half as much soup as a can of Progresso. If only my dad had a bit of patience for the Chinese, because I really wanted to try the pineapple fried rice they had on the special menu.

Paige, how did the show go? I hope you got in a long nap today!

Oh gawd!  Three hours before the show started on Friday, one of the judges notified us she couldn't be there b/c her very ill husband had a medical emergency.  Might I mention that 2 weeks ago another of the 3 judges told us he also had a medical concern that would prevent him from judging.  So back then we scoured the northeast for judges who could do all the classes necessary and ended up having to fly in a judge from Delaware.  I must tell you, she was a brilliant decision because she had just been approved for Utility that week, so she got two Utility B assignments out of the deal.

So, anyway, with 3 hours notice, despite the room being filled with AKC approved judges and OTCH competitors, we couldn't use any of them b/c they had students entered in the events.  We ended up with the most qualified person in the room with no students in any class other than Beginner Novice.  She was not an official approved AKC judge, but has judged AKC matches in the past and was the most qualified in the room after the process of elimination.  AKC allows this in emergency situations.

That was the start of the weekend on Friday.  Will explain more later once I plug my computer in b/c the battery is about to die.
