    Thursday chat

Let's see how many get started today!

It's actually a bit chilly here this morning.  In the 50's!  Will warm up and tomorrow is supposed to be in the 90's again.

LA is really being so battered, and lots of MS too.  Good thots and prayers to those folks.  And, might I add, that I love seeing the animals being rescued along with the people!

Not too much exciting happening here. We had wonderfully cool sleeping weather last night. The dogs get so totally ramped up when the weather cools off. Just got the kitchen cleaned--yeah!

Off to continue prepping for my classes.

Our school year started Monday. Both kids seem happy enough with their teachers. I just today got ahold of the school diagnostician to start the process of getting Eli re assessed for Autism spectrum additions to his IEP. I am mega nervous about it too lemme tell ya. But, the ball is rolling, the battle is joined and we shall see. The house is so quiet sans kids, I enjoy and dislike it in turns. Cleo just dislikes it. She has been moaning all week. We visit the inlaws for the weekend and that is its own stress inducement. There's a new pool in the family so the kids are excited. I just hope there's plenty of wine. I will try my best to be good.

Gina - I'm thinking good thoughts for you and for Eli. From what I gather from your FB posts, he seems to be doing really well but he sure is a character. I can see why it's not complete bliss having them back in school but at least you've got Cleo Big Smile.

Today is my Friday and altho I'm liking the new 1/2 time schedule, my stress meter is maxed out every day. I don't know why I thought I'd be able to do the majority of everything I did in 40 hours in 20 hours Huh?.

Tomorrow I'm taking Shane to the holistic vet for an evaluation. I'm kind of excited to hear what she has to say but also just to see what an evaluation like this entails.

K - better get crackin on the piles of work on my desk. I also arranged for the office carpets to be cleaned tomorrow, so I need to do a bunch or rearranging of stuff and vacuum the whole place before I leave.

Short day at work, so I took Piper to the WMA to run. A little warm for her. She did jump a bird, so she was pleased with herself, but she spends too much time in central air. We got back, and after a deep drink, she hit her little pool. In and out, poking her head in deep and biting the water. Then, she just sat and watched traffic for a while. I probably should have offered her a beer, but she doesn't like light beer and my selection is really low. She looked a little shaky on her hind legs, kind of like I get after working too hard in a hot sun.

My Honey Crisp apples are really good this year. Lots of them, and no worms. Damn squirrels seem to be getting their share though. Have to pick and can some apple sauce soon. Already have apple butter done.

According to my boss, horse manure is the secret to a good tomato harvest. I know one person close by with a horse. My boss says 2 to 4 inches of manure over the planing bed, and let it rot. He has lots of tomatoes, we don't. I'll try his way.

Went to a wedding last weekend. Directions were not quite right. Turned on the designated road, no church. Lots of corn, and several cars driving up and down on the dirt road. Stopped at a farmstead and asked for directions (yes, a first). We were close, only off by 20 blocks-in farm country with no intermediate roads and lots of tall corn. It was a nice service, but I still think of people driving up and down on the wrong road, looking for signs of life.

So far, I have about two hours of work lined up for tomorrow. Could be a long weekend, with a little luck.

It's quiet here today.... Everyone must be having a productive day!

This woman was not meant to install mini blinds herself!!!  It was always easier to get the man to do it!  And why do they have to keep changing the hardware on these things!  It would be so much easier not having to make new holes...  Hopefully, the other 2 will be easier than the first one.  At least I made sure that the new curtains would not need new rods...Smile

Doug, those apples sound yummy... squirrels do the same thing to my pecans.  They must be hungry, because pecans don't ripen until about Thanksgiving, but they are making a mess out of my patio.  Trade ya, applesauce for pecans, if there are any left...Wink

It is nearly cider mill time! My fav cider mill has started to post which apples are ripe for picking and which will be ripe soon. Must go get a carmel apple stat!

I have never been a fan of honey crisp but I know I am in the minority. Gala and Jonathan are my favs.

It sure is quiet here today. People must be busy.

I have 12 reports sitting on my desk to write. I got 6 done today and by 4 my brain was completely fried. You could smell smoke in the air. Thankfully a co-worker must have been feeling the same and he came down to my cube to chit chat. We had a very enjoyable conversation about horses, riding, olympic jumping, etc. That was a great way to end the day.

Herman Cain was on The Daily Show last night? wth! Thought I would never see the day. They got into a discussion about why the polls say zero% of blacks support Romney. He says Those polls are not correct. They took the polls when black people were working! They didn't answer the phone! Jon says "oh, so polls are only for unemployed people" ROFL!!!! I heart Jon Stewart (and his writing team)

omg that's too funny!! I heart Jon Stewart too and I also never thought we'd see or hear from Herman Cain again.

My new favorite apple is the Opal but it's hard to find. Figures they'd carry it long enough for me to get hooked on it and then stop carrying it :(. Gala is also a favorite of mine.

Yep, it's been pretty quiet on the forum today. I'm imagining Karen sitting on the beach in Cancun drinking Tequila or something with Tequila in it :)
