Monday mindless chat

Not ready for Monday but here it is ready or not.

Tons of work to do and zero motivation. 

The tile job is going to take much longer than we had estimated in our ignorance. :(  We've got another estimator coming by this week.  We may have to put the project off until work slows down for me and at DH's work. 

 Happy Birthday to myself. I'm planning to sit around doing nothing for several hours, then I'm going to run out to Five Below, and to get some hoagies. Hopefully, the rain doesn't ruin my afternoon plans.  I'm supposed to go to Dorney Park for some roller coaster riding and to the Chinese buffet. It looks like it might just be the Chinese buffet though.

Good luck with the tile job - I thought I was prepared for it all but it was quite something and that was just a bathroom.  Ask about having them use epoxy grout too - not sure how much more $$ it is or if the person is comfortable with it BUT it wears much better and is supposed to be impossible to stain

Took B swimming this morning and then I kayaked some - pretty morning - we were out on the lake by 6:30. We are fortunate to have this resource, watching the sunrise was a great reminder as to why I've always loved mornings :)

Errands and then cleaning. Oh and I had best try on all my stuff and confirm I have all I need

DH just left for a bike ride and I need to hop on the elliptical. Our weather is so perfect right now. I wish it would stay like this forever. Went out to dinner with DH's family last night and we were able to sit outside and eat. It was really nice.

Jackie - I'm not sure you'd have this problem but our house is on a slab foundation and we have several cracks in our tile from the foundation shifting. We've been told that we could've/should've used a type of mastic (sp?) that had some flex in it. That's probably not the best explanation but I thought I'd mention it.

I just put a chicken in to cook so I can make King Ranch chicken with some of the leftovers. I can't wait to try that recipe!

I just hit the send button for the first 1/2 of a major accreditation report--the other 1/2 is going out this afternoon, come heck or high water.

Soooo tired this morning.  Rainy Mondays are not good motivation. 

That's about all I have today, not much else going on.  Yawn

Karen, I think our living/dining area is about the size of your bathroom.   Cathy, our soil is very prone to shifting so I will ask about that type of thin set/mortar. The tile guy that came out on Saturday didn't speak very good English (hardly any) and we speak even worse Spanish so it was a little hard to communicate. His son just called me with the price and it's pretty reasonable.

We got some needed rain over the weekend leaving it humid and sticky today.  Depending on what Issac does will depend on how our week goes with the kids coming in.   Hopefully it will be outdoor weather since we only have AC in part of the house.

Got lots to do before I leave for a blessed week of vacation...

I got myself some Cold Stone with one of the gift cards I got for my birthday. The weather looks ok, so I think we'll head up towards Dorney Park and hope the best. So, I'm off to pick up the hoagies. 

Slipping out early :)  If I dont get on while on vacation, everyone have a good holiday and be safe from the storms !

I have sewage backing up in my basement.

I am 99.999% sure that I will have a parking ticket on my car when I get out of work today.

Due to a mechanical failure, our office was at least 120 degrees this morning. It was so hot, our computers had meltdowns and refused to run. We had to shut them all off. My hair was soaking wet with sweat until about noon when they finally got the heat turned off and the AC running.

And my ears hurt.

The bright side is that after 2.5 hrs, I finally figured out a way to get my work calendar to synch with my google calendar so that I know where I need to be from one min to the next. (due to security reasons, this was near impossible until I found a work around). I ran up and down the hallway at work cheering and calling myself a genius. My boss agreed it was probably the best 2.5 hrs I had spent all day. (the rest of the day was spent in meetings)

I'm on the e-mail list for an Italian restaurant in Sacramento that's having Taco Tuesday tomorrow - $1 regular tacos, $2 fish tacos and $3 margaritas.  That all sounds pretty reasonable to me, so I'm taking the gang there tomorrow night. I'm not sure what an Italian taco is, but if it's Italian and a taco, it's gotta be good.

I need to make a Trader Joe's run.  I got their flyer in the mail and they have a "lite" guacamole - it's a blend of avocados and non-fat plain Greek yogurt. I don't think I've ever had anything with the TJ's name on it that wasn't good so I'll definitely be giving that a try.
