Joyce, don't be discouraged. Luke does not bark when he's at therapy. Actually , he only barks when he goes to see on person, but she's not in the building, she's in her own apartment, and insists upon giving him something every time. In the building, he does not bark. When he's in there, if someone doesn't want to see him, he just moves on to someone who does. It's different there then somewhere else. When he's in there, he has a ready supply of people to pet him. When he's slighted on the street, who knows when he might find someone to pet him. He's actually pretty funny about it at home. We have a lot of Russian/Soviet neighbors, and one of my best friends is from Ukraine. Her mom speaks Russian to him, and he knows that certain words generally indicate that the people are interested in him. If he hears those words and they don't pet him, that's the most offensive thing to him. He also seems to really like a German accent. The favorite person, the one who is in the apartment and gives him treats, is German. When he heard another German accent, he got so excited.
I got myself a new pair of sneakers for my birthday. I only paid $20. They were 50% off on clearance and I had the $5 birthday coupon from DSW. They're so cool.
