very mindless sunday

    very mindless sunday

My brain is dead. I got no sleep last night at all. The dogs were jumping all over the camper trying to wiggle up to my nieces so I was constantly telling them to leave it and lie down. Bad dogs. I hope I get a nap today. At least I got the house clean before I left so I won't have to worry about that when I get home.

Julie that sounds absolutely awful - hoping you get a nap today

Last really gorgeous cool(ish) day here as per the weather report -

Got some fresh littleneck clams from Costco yesterday and made a really nice clam sauce, broccoli rabe and fettucine dinner. I tell you I love to cook in this weather. As soon as it goes humid and hot again I'll be back to "let's have a salad" or "let's graze"

I was awakened by the dog gakking alarm noise - Bugsy had a wild late play with his friend Dottie and appears to have eaten a touch too much grass. As soon as he was done gakking he was like 'um hello it's time for breakfast' LOL

DH's crappy kids haven't called yet, no card - one apparently sent an email. It makes me so furious because when they want money he's the one they come to. Never a thank you, nothing. I am ready to pop but think it would upset him even more so I am quietly stewing

Need to do a quick clean as someone new is popping by at 1 - we'll take her out somewhere but not sure yet

Happy Father's day to the dads out there

and hope eveyone is well and enjoying their Sunday

here's a pic from their play session

Karen, I'd be stewing too about the kids treatment of their Dad.  It's so common these days but that doesn't make it any easier to take or less hurtful.  I love the pic of Bugsy's new friend.  :)  Your dinner sounds so yummy.  We're already into the salad, sandwich or grazing food options here due to the heat.  I did get a nice rotisserie chicken at the grocery this morning and will make some chicken enchiladas later or we'll just toss it in a salad and save the rest for sandwiches.

I've got tons of housework to do but absolutely no motivation.

Happy Fathers day to all the dads out there.  I miss my dad.

My dad has been gone for 34 years, but I still miss him too.

DH discovered the source of the zillions of skeeters that keep tormenting us.  Right beside the garage door, and under DS's bedroom window there is a garden that fills every year with ferns, which are next to impossible to get rid of.  Of course, now that he's brought it up, I recall that the same thing happened last year, so I need to go out and cut everything down to ground level.  Such fun.  Then a quick visit to the garden to see what's ready to pick (peas, zuchini and brocolli most likely), pull a few weeds and then bath time for the pups.  THEN I get to clean the darned house.

But, we played yesterday so today I have to pay.

     Have a geat day everyone!

I don't think it's as hot today as it was yesterday - weatherbug says 88 but it feels a tad bit warmer than that to me. It would be nice to just stay in double digits for awhile.

Glenda, I really like that suggestion from yesterday to get yourself some scandalous undies to hang on the line ... a couple of bright colored lacy thongs, a couple of those "barely there" bras and maybe even some fishnet stockings. Lordy, I can't imagine why anyone would care what kind of underwear someone else is wearing, or even whether or not they're wearing any.  Does the woman have no life??  She sounds like an absolute wretch.

Karen, your meals sound so yummy.  Today I'm making spaghetti and meatballs with the meatballs courtesy of Trader Joe's and the sauce courtesy of Del Monte. Smile Even that will be a major effort.

Karen you take the neatest pictures of your dogs, I really enjoy them. *S* Beautiful dogs.

So sorry about your DH kids that is a shame, hope they remember maybe later in the day.   Gorgeous day here in Pa. so why did I nap most of the afternoon?  Only thing I did was laundry and made some chicken salad, oh well what can you expect of an 80 year old lady. lol

Happy Father's Day to all the dads. I still miss my dad like crazy too.

Karen - I know exactly what you mean about the inconsiderate kids. DH didn't get a thing from his daughter either but that's pretty par for the course. I don't say anything but I know it hurts. I did give him a card from Shane and me and bought him some of his favorite donuts this morning.

It was supposed to be cooler today but I think it's probably still 100ish and feels nasty. The weekend has flown by and I have a crazy, busy week ahead. I think I'll go take a dip in the pool but I won't be able to stay out there long in this heat.

same here, sadly. I did just ask if they did anything his half-wit son age 36 said he mailed a card but its late and that DH should be happy because its like getting two Father's Days. The daughter age 31 said she tried to call. I am steaming mad and told DH that. He is now not pleased with me but whatever I am furious

Had a nice day otherwise. This 'new to the area person' is very interesting, I can't quite get a handle on her real personality She very sweetly brought a little orchid, some treats for B and a very nice bottle of beer (750ml) with her. We just showed her the lake and another park and then wandered downtown to show some of that and of course wound up stopping for a pint. Bugsy was in love.............oh yea that is the way he is with anyone who dares to enter LOL

My dad has been gone 27 yrs and honestly we weren't ever close so although at certain junctures I have thought "I wonder what dad would have though of this?" most of the time not having him near is normal. He was sick on and off since I was 12-13.

Bored with the US Open golf, I need to see if something interesting is on

Kept moving today, enjoyed the day though not much to show for it, lol.

Took the fluffs for a walk at the park, we go once or twice a week, they love it there.  This being Sunday, we met lots and lots of folks and doggies.  On the way home, stopped by the Rehab so they would see their "Poppa Nonno,"  (my Dad, who is there for physical therapy for about 2 weeks prior to coming home).  Tasha sat in his lap for 20 minutes, he smiled the entire time!  Here at home he always has dogs and cats in his lap, he has been missing that!  (I did take all 3 dogs for a visit Thursday, but it was so new to them I kept them on his bed)

Home to feed the fluffs, then back to the Rehab, as they had a Father's Day dessert buffet at 2 PM in the main dining room.  I had ordered a wheel chair for my Dad at the morning visit -- he can't walk too far just now, but normally only needs a cane, so we don't need one.  We sat outside on the lovely patio for half and hour, went in for yummy desserts AND fresh strawberries!  Back outside for another half hour, then I came home.

I've now started digging up the flower garden in the back yard.  It hasn't had any attention for 3 or 4 years, totally over grown, so I have plenty to keep me busy there.   It is 27 feet long and about 4 feet deep. Already thinking I should just use the weed whacker to get rid of the greens, then borrow my friend's rototiller, then start the entire thing from scratch.  An hour's work and I managed to unmangle a strip about 1 foot deep and 8 feet long.  At that rate it will be October before I finish!  Among the stuff I am attempting to "save" include 5 day lilies, several shasta daisies, and 3 rose bushes, though I think 1 has given up the ghost, got strangled in all the vines.  There is also a nice clematis growing up the fence that I'd like to keep if possible.  The rest of it is . . . out!

I got my dad ice cream cake, yesterday and today, cause that's what he asked for. I didn't get a card, because I totally brain farted. I forgot to send my grandpa a card too, and I feel bad about it. I forgot a birthday card too, which was about 2 weeks ago, but I did call. He never answered or returned my call. That's odd for him, but I think he was away and I called his home phone. I'll  have to call him Tuesday, since I'll be out way too late to actually have any chance of getting him on the phone tomorrow.

Luke and I have a pretty exciting week ahead. I'm volunteering all week at Lose the Training Wheels, which is a camp to teach special needs kids to ride bikes. I did it last year, and it was so much fun, though I legitimately thought I might pass out. As a volunteer, you have to follow a kid on a bike for a 75 minute session. How fast you have to go depends on how fast the kid you are following goes. The kid I was with last year was the fastest, and was the first one riding on her own.  I was running, and sometimes sprinting behind her. Even though I was dieing at the end of 75 minutes each day, it was great, so I'm doing it again. Then, Luke starts his weight pulling class on Thursday, and Friday we're going to Single Dog  Racing. Luke will be racing, and I think Callie will just tag along and come into the building for a few minutes. Hopefully I'm not too exhausted till we get to Friday night.
