    Latest agility class

We got to start backchaining sequences of obstacles tonight. SO MUCH FUN!!!!

But after we had worked our way up to starting a tunnel--jump--A-frame sequence, Roscoe saw a critter. And that was it for him. He entered another world. So I took him for a jog around the field and we did puppy push-ups in a corner to get his focus back on me. When it was my turn, he sailed through the sequence like a champ!

But then we had to turn around a do a sequence with a curved tunnel going TOWARD the critter. He was having none of this going through the tunnel nonsense. So the instructor stood on one side and I was on the other side to keep him from breaking off and running off one side or the other. So what did my critter-obsessed hound do? He leaped ON TOP of the tunnel and ran it that way!

And we got more "Bella is part border collie" proof. There were sheep in the field next to the play area, and she went NUTS when she saw them. She ran the fence trying to get at them and several times tried to either climb the (very flimsy) wire fence or go through it (her head through one square of the fence and each leg through another two squares). If I took her collar and ran her down to the other side of the field, she flew back to the sheep the moment I let go.

Anyway, lots of fun was had tonight

I love your ongoing Agility Class updates! They make me smile and I can totally see Gracie fixating on the peacocks that run around where we will be doing our obedience classes and trying to take down the horses there.

Sounds like Roscoe is doing great with the class. Maybe look into a herding club for Bella? She would probably love it!

We're in beginner's agility class too! In fact, Rupert gradjamatates tomorrow. [sm=proud.gif]

How did Roscoe do the first time on the big A-Frame? Rupert was super excited to do it, but once he got to the top, he turned around, realizing this is high! Then he turned around and took a few steps backwards, over the apex, then I got him turned around, then he ran down the other side. Now that we have it figured out, he loves it. The only problem is slowing him down so he touches the contacts. [:)]

Yay, Rupey! Tell your mama to give you a great big bone from me! [:D]

Roscoe has no problem with any of the obstacles (no teeter-totter yet, of course) - partly because he is naturally fearless, and partly because I've been playing with him on playground equipment ever since we got him.

I also never have to worry about getting him to slow down LOL! He just takes his own sweet time about it and is thrilled to find a bit of dehydrated liver at the other end. [:D]

Way to go Roscoe and Rupert!! Sounds like Roscoe is loving agility!! He must be pretty agile in order to walk on top of the tunnel. Dasher has done that on occasion, but he is only 15 lbs. I would have loved to see a big dog like Roscoe doing it!![:D]

I've been working with Jessie for a while and I finally found a tunnel I could use for her.  She refused to believe the tunnel was not just a new jump.  Your pups sound like they're having fun.  Keep up the good work with them.
