Talk about coming a long way

[:D] I was so proud of Riley last night I thought my face might crack because I was grinning from ear to ear.

We were on our usual walk when two children from around the block approached us.  They both sat in the grass and called Riley over to them.  He looked at ME first and I said, "it's ok - you can go", to which he proceeded to walk over and sit in the little girls' lap.  She was giggling and petting him all over.  He was just eating up all the attention.  Then the little boy wanted to play too - so he called Riley and Riley went to him and played for a while.  Here comes the best part, my neighbor and her 2 year old son pull up in the car and the little boy, Gio, goes barrelling to Riley ... Riley immediately went into a "down/stay" and waited until I said it was ok to play.  He was ever so gentle with the little one that his mom said to me, "Wow you are so lucky that Riley is so good with the kids."  Gio had a cookie in his hand and his mom said can he give the cookie to Riley.  I told her it was ok but to let me go near Riley first.  I bent down and told Riley "easy" and he took crumbs, so easy, from the very end of the cookie.  He did not take it until the baby gave it to him with an open hand, and even then Riley went "easy".  I was so proud.  It's the little things that make me happy.

Needless to say when we went home, Riley got a very BIG good boy treat [:D]

    I just wanted to share.

Good boy, Riley!!  Isn't it great when you have what you've been teaching them tested and they do so well.  You realize wow I did something right!  Good for you, mom.  I know how this feels.[:)]
