Help Please, Looking after my parents dog!

My parents have asked us to look after their Lab / Pitbull mix for 1 week while they are on vacation.  We are having a blast with him, he is such a good dog.  (We are hoping he will rub off on Daisy & Duke!)[:D]

We have had him for 48 hours and he hasn't pooped yet!  He is used to having free roam of my parents 50 acre farm and with us (because he is an escape artist), he has to be inside.  And because he has free roam, they don't know his bathroom patterns.  We have taken him on TONS of walks in fields, trails, and forests.  But no Poop!  We take him out almost every hour as we have a 12 week puppy that neeeds to be taken out.  But he won't go.  He pees lots and has been eating his meals.

I have never owned a "big" dog before, only my wee little ones.  For them not to go poop in 48 hours would be a big problem.

For you guys with Big dogs, is this normal or should I be worried????

Big dogs poo as much as little ones the only difference is the size of the poo.

Its a common problem when the animal is away from their home and in a different place. Try feeding softer food to make the stool pass through easyer. Also if its even more of a problem a vet might help. Usaly in this case a vet would give the dog an enama to help it out. Of corse the vet would check everything else out first before that.

You could also add a little yougert to the normal food to help with this problem. About a tablespoon twice a day for a lab sized dog.

Yea Rory dosnt like to poop when we are on vacation or camping. She dosnt eat much at first either. Is this guy eating? Try adding the yogurt like mentioned above  or pumpkin. He is just stressed but hopefully things will pass soon.....literally, ha ha!

He might not like doing his business in front of people, because he's not used to people watching. You could try taking him out on a long leash, like a 30' lead, so he has a little more privacy. [;)]

He is most likely to be off schedule.  When he has to poop, he will.  Just watch him, he'll let you know when the time is right!!

Yay! I know how worrisome that can be. For the record, when *I* go on a trip I can't go for 48 hours, either. Sofia won't eat for 48 hours, so we're even!
