    Woof is 10 years old

my oldest son likes my x-stitching. He appreciates it so I enjoy giving him pieces I make. He has a castle with a dragon wrapped around it he proudly displays in his home.
10 years ago he came across a pattern for a wolf head and asked me to make it. I tried - I really did, but the pattern nearly drove me insane. I got about 2/3 of it done and had to stop. I couldn't keep track of the pattern as the colors changed so often. I was lost - I was confused.
I got a brainstorm about a month ago (still recovering) and it occurred to me if I used blue masking tape and sectioned off the pattern and the Aida cloth I could follow it.
Tonight Woof was truly born.....my son didn't think he'd ever be able to enjoy Woof hanging in his living room.
personally I can't wait to get him out of my house [8|] I even threw the pattern away

Congrats Mary! I have a few projects i've never finished, although not cross stitching. There was the latch hook Puss in Boots, although that was the fault of whoever made it, because it was printed crooked on the canvas, and the knitting I never finished learning to do. One day i'll finish a project too.

Nice Job! My Aunt does stuff like that.  I  just don't know how the heck anyone could have the patience for it... I  just could not do something like that myself....

I always finish my projects. Usually it's knitting but with summer my hands break out from the yarn. So I went back to x-stitching.
I HAVE to finish a project. Much like my life - I finish things. Having Woof sit in a drawer for the past7 years was more than I could bear. Therapy was next [8|]

Mary, Wolf is gorgeous!  As a counted cross stitcher, I can appreciate the getting lost in the pattern.  What I do to help that is first take a red pen, from the center point of the pattern I draw a cross.  The basically bisects the pattern into 4 quarters.  Then on the fabric, I do the same thing.  I estimate the center & with red thread do the same thing.  I essentially have matching quadrants on the fabric & the pattern.  I get less confused & lost in the pattern.  I hope that makes sense.

    Very nice!

I'm doing a painting of Sofia's face, I think oil paint will be much easier than cross-stitching!
