I think if you just put the bed there and tell him "go on your bed" he will. And if he gets up and starts sniffing around the room just use him name and tell him, "go on your bed.". He will get the idea pretty quickly. If he comes on the bed, tell him to get down and tell him to "go on your bed".
The only problem I see with this is that I know with Willow she never sleeps in the same spot all night. She might start on her bed, get hot and move to the floor or another area entirely. I think if he's shut in and isn't comfortable on his bed and wants to move around to a move comfortable area that's when you're going to have the problem.
Example--We never shut our bedroom door when she's in there but today I had the A/C on and wanted to keep the room cool. So, she slept for about an 1 1/2 or so with me in there and then once she wanted to leave the room, I heard pawing at the carpet and sneezing and all kinds of commotion. When she's not shut in she quietly leaves and it's not a problem.
