I would like to disagree with the statement that there is no training or interaction involved with a head halter. I have one for Sally (halti)--it is self correcting but that doesn't mean that you cannot reinforce the good behavior. When ever Sally pulls on it, then backs off, I praise her. I walked her without it and I actually think that while we have a LONG way to go that it is helping her get the loose leash idea a little better.
