Help to me to report this please!

I posted this in the General Board but, quick summary, while taking my Panda for a walk, I found a dog in the barkyard of this house, he had a chain, the chain was tied to a weight, maybe from 10-15 pounds maybe. I walked Panda last night, and sure enough, the dog still had the weight. It rained earlier today, and after the rain, I went outside to walk panda, I went by the fence, the dogs were very wet, and that one dog was still chained to the weight.

The dog to the weight can move around freely, he looks very uncomfortable though and as one asked me in the other topic, I was still not able to see if it was cutting his neck or not. The other forum did prove me with telling me who to tell, my problem is, I don't really know how to look these things up. A link would greatly be appreciated. Thank you. BTW, I live in Houston, Tx, and I have their address.

The Houston SPCA conducts animal cruelty investigations and you can submit your information on line.  You have the address and having reported neglect where I am, it was the most important piece of info.

It doesn't sound like you need any convincing, but you are doing the right thing!

Thank you! I was looking up on yahoo SPCA and such from what was provided to me on the other topic and I just couldn't find anything. I appreciate you taking the time to give me the email address. Again thank you.

You are most welcome - the link to the online form was at the bottom of the page I gave you, but there was also a phone number.  I think the online form is great, but if you have trouble using it, try the phone number. The one I called locally had an answering machine reminding you of the specific info you should leave to report a situation!

Yeah, I reported it already, they have a phone number on me too so they can call me and such. I gave the best detail that I could.

Kudos to you for making the effort on behalf of what sounds to be mistreated dogs.  I've made more than one report to my local Humane Society's cruelty department (I don't know why, but I always seem to spot neglected or mistreated dogs.  I don't go looking for them; my eyes just seem to land on them).

If your local cruelty group is like ours, it make take a day or two before they respond.  I hope they see what you reported.  They can't always do anything - it depends on the laws and such in your area, if the cruelty people are associated with local police departments, etc.  But it's a start.  Keep us posted!

After the SPCA checks it out, depending on what they find..you may have to file a report and sign your name to it...as far as I know it cannot be done anonymously.  Keep us posted.

I just filed a complaint about a neighbors dog with Animal control.  I had to give name and address.  I was told my name would not go on the letter sent to the owner but if they called and asked they could get it.  So, no, here in Maryland,  you can not do it anonymously.

in NH a name/address also needs to be given

I had to give my name out too, I really don't care. The one tied in the back is always tied to that pole, and the dog with the weight is still chained to it. The fence is low, they might be doing it so the dog wont jump the fence. I was the place I reported it to, to call me by now, they haven't. I reported it saterday and I may be impatient, but I was hoping they would have checked into it by now.
