In tears

    In tears

We went to SO's parent's for a barbecue tonight, had a fantastic evening, and Ben had a great time playing in the backyard.  We drove home and, got out of the car and SO went ahead to unlock the front door.  I got Ben out of the car and was just waiting for another car to pass in the road, when Ben got really fidgety in my arms.  Just as he was really wriggling, the car door fell shut - on his paw.  [:(][:(][:(][:(][:(]

It wasn't fully open so it didn't shut very hard at all, but he cried for 10 minutes.  I called the vet, in hysterics, but since by that point Ben was walking around on it, not favouring it at all, and not crying anymore, the vet said it doesn't sound serious.  He's going in for his second vaccination on Monday so they will double check it, but Ben just jumped down a step so I think he's OK.  I am not sure he's forgiven me, though, and I am spoiling him rotten.

Ben's fine, but my heart is sill racing and I am still crying.

Awwww. . .poor Ben and poor you.  He'll be fine and he will forgive you.  It's just one of many little bumps and accidents he's going to have throughout his life.

Poor Ben! I don't think he blames you at all.  It was the cars fault, right? [:D]

Thank you both. :)  A big snuggle with Ben and my SO on the couch, and a bowl of ice cream later I am a little more calm.  Poor little guy,  I doubt I will let him out of my sight tomorrow.

Poor Ben, but glad to hear he's ok now.

    Whew...glad all is fine....
I almost squished Talus' head with the hot tub cover...
I didn't realize he climbed the stairs and I flicked his nose with the cover...I thought he would never forgive me but he did....
Give Ben a big hug from us...

Awww poor little Ben. I'm glad to hear he is doing all right. Give that boy extra love and kisses from me.

I have been thought that with Blue except it was our table in the living room. He would slam his knee on it when jumping on the couch during his zoomies and wouldn't stop crying for 15 mintues now when ever he gets hurt he still wants to be in your lap so you can rock him plus give kisses (he is 37 pounds).

Tonight I got him right under the jaw with my back of my steel toe shoes because I didn't notice he was so close to me, but he got kisses plus treats to get rid of the pain.

Poor Ben [sm=sad.gif]  He knows that you did not mean to get his foot, but it's tough not to feel bad. He's going to be okay, and so are you!

When Crusher was little he would throw his head back and howl at the slightest little thing.  One time we were walking down the street, Crusher used to weave in front of us and occasionally he would fall back a bit to sniff at something.  Well this time he wove after he had fallen back and I accidently stepped on the side of his foot.  OMG you would think I had killed him.  His head went back, eyes squinted shut, full out howl.  Paw in the air, I swear he had tears.  This woman came running out of her house yelling, "What did you do to that poor dog?!"  I calmly told her, "Nothing, he's a drama queen." , touched his paw a tiny bit, he put it down, stopped the howl, and proceeded to weave in front of me, not a care in the world and no hint of a limp.  The lady was stunned.  She had been so sure I was beating him.

I'm glad Ben is ok.  Don't be so hard on yourself.

Thanks everyone.  He's back to his normal self today, full of silliness and mischief.
