Does anyone know what I would need to do to work with abused dogs? It's something I would love to do, but I have no idea where to start.

i would start by volunteering at your local humane society, ASPCA, or rescue group (if you dont already). there are many abused and under socialized dogs that come through these organizations.

Not all dogs in the shelters or SPCA are abused. some are neglected, and left on their own instincts to make it. I did Rottweiler rescue for 2 years until I could do it no more. It's a very trying situation, but the best way you can help is to take treats to your local shelter, volunteer to walk the dogs, brush them, and just cuddling with them eases the agony of being in the shelter for these guys. good luck with your venture...you'll be making some furries feel better until they are found a good home. (We won't even think of any other possibilities!)
