Calcium ascorbate (it's buffered Vitamin C) -- she says only maybe 1 in 1000 dogs are allergic to it. Take a gauze pad and unfold it and wrap around your finger. Dip your finger in a bit of water and tap some powder onto your finger.
Then use your finger like a 'brush' and massage the outside of the teeth with it --
This particularly helps bleeding gums (if you know any humans with that problem) -- While you do your elmination diet it should be pretty easy to watch for a few days and see if this reacts.
She said otherwise simply dip your gauze wrapped finger in water and do it with just the gauze -- that will work fine for your short-term purposes!!
Then she said you can find toothpaste at a heatlh store that is pumice based and that should be dog-safe and not full of chemicals for when she comes off the elmiination diet as an alternate for the calcium ascorbate.
