    Teething...how long does it last?

We are about to get a 10 month Havanese- she is from a puppy mill (I am not sure if living in a cage for 10 months would have an effect). Her foster moms says that she chews everything.  I was curious if this could still be teething or should she be done w/ teething by now?

We are exprienced w/ dogs, but not puppies. Most of our dogs are 2 or 3 years when they come to live w/ us.

    Thanks for any insight!

I don't think that she's chewing because of teething issues.  She's probably chewing from behavioral/stress issues.  The best advice I could give you is to buy alot of healthy chewies and limit her freedom, lest you find a 3 legged coffee table or worse.  10 Months in a cage will certainly influence behavior, and in a negative way.  Be patient with this new member of your family.  It might take a while for her to come around.

The last reply is absolutly correct, it is a soothing techinque they do for themselves. Its like people who smoke, chew their nails, or drink wine to unwind after work. Nothing wrong with it, just learn to manage it and giver her plenty of chewing choices. Hard stuff, those puny lil toys they have wont work.
    Go for........
    - Nylabones, not the compressed ones cause she will go through it to fast and even make herselsf sick
-Doggie tires toys that are safe if ingested
And my number one savior for Rory........Cow Hoofs, they last so long, the dogs love them, and you can fill them with stuff, plus they are cheap and last a couple of days!
