had to go outside to take a breather today

Molly's kitty pal, Zeus, is sick. 2nd trip to the vet today for fluids, shot to get his temp down, antibiotics. He has some viral thing going on. Little fella is pretty sick and Molly watches over him.
Anyway - while waiting for Zeus to get his fluids a lady came in with a wee little Min Pin - tiny little thing. Apparently he'd broken his leg LAST NIGHT and she was bringing him in (heard the receptionist commenting on the condition of the leg after the woman left).
So while we were both sitting there waiting she was telling me she didn't even know how the dog broke his leg (she has 20 dogs) and she was going on and on and on about her various "mini" toy dogs. The Austrialian toy Shepherd she has, and others that left my mind reeling.
I had to leave....anything I would have said to her would have gone over her head and stuck to the wall so why bother. Had my own turmoil going on waiting for Zeus. But I couldn't there and listen with a grin on my face - so I went outside.

Oh god that's awful. I sure hope the vet takes the clue and has her investigated for animal cruelty! Sounds like a byb bordering on a puppy mill.

In my experience people who say "I don't know how he broke his leg" have always kicked the dog and broken it. [:(]

Consider calling the vet and pointing out what she said to the receptionist? Maybe he could get this woman inspected?

I second Jeano.  I would have called AC on her then!  Get her name first, ask a few questions, oh do you breed?  I'm interested in a smaller dog someday, etc....  then call AC!

nothing would be done - nothing at all, not here in NH
I've called about a possible puppy miller in my town and he told them he only has 14 or less puppies per year so he doesn't even need to be licensed - which means he can sell his puppies without various vaccines.
I've called about a neglect case in another town and the state vet office went to check on him and found nothing wrong other than an old horse w/an inadequate diet. The guy keeps cats in a rabbit hutch outside, dogs tied in a field yards away from his house (with no tick/flea protection) and a small dog tied to the side view mirror of his car via leash; state found all was okay.
    Nothing would be done

Oh Mary, that sucks!  I used to live in MA and thought New England was better than that....   [>:]
