The storm is here too. Gertie doesn't seem to mind. I think she kinda likes it. The power went out for about a half an hour this afternoon and when the it came back on she went crazy barking. Silly dog.

He survived it just fine - it wasn't too major, and other than having a little difficulty settling down he didn't really seem to be affected by it.

When I was a little girl, my parents frequently dogsat for some friends who had an incredibly friendly, well socialised husky/wolf x.  This dog was amazing in every respect, but it was TERRIFIED of thunderstorms.  One night, during a storm, he hid underneath my parents' bed.  My parents, taking advantage of the romantic atmosphere of the storm, decided to use the opportunity to uh....try to make me a little brother or sister, not knowing the dog was under the bed.  In the middle of the act, there was a massive crash of thunder and the dog sat right up....throwing asunder the slats, mattress, and amorous adults above him.

I am haunted by that story, and thus want a dog who just sees thunderstorms as another day in the neighbourhood.

~LOL~  Kate, what a funny story.  One thing that Grady has taught me is that dogs are very empathic & can pick up on your mood.  If you're nervous about how Ben will react to the storms he might pick up on your apprehensiveness. Just my [sm=2cents.gif]
