Rescue Remedy

Most health stores carry it -- there are actually a lot of Bach "flower essences" but they aren't anything I use much.  I do use the Rescue Remedy.  Comes in two sizes -- just try the small size til you know if your dog will respond well to it.  It's got kind of a funky little dropper -- hold the mouth SHUT with one hand and just lift up the dog's lip with a finger.  With the other hand put the tip of the dropper behind the canine tooth and squirt.  It will go right into the mouth with no fear of the dog biting the dropper.

Some dogs do object to the alcohol taste. But anxious dogs that find this a relief typically LIKE getting it because they tend to often know it helps.

The liquid valerian root ALSO is available at health stores.  It's called a 'tincture' and just ask them where their tinctures are.  If you have a choice get the non-alcohol one.  Either is fine but the non-alcohol one is sweeter and more palatable.  Give it the same way OR mix it into a little tahini or peanut butter and it's yum!!

Be aware tho -- if you 'mix' it in something you make it longer before it will work.  If you squirt it in the mouth it works in about 4-5 minutes.

DO NOT "mix" Rescue Remedy with anything other than water.  And if you put it in water you often dilute it too much to do much good.  Remember to tap the bottle 8 -10 times before you open it. "Resonance" is part of how it works.

Bach's flower essences aren't really homeopathy -- they are a whole different type of alternative medicine.  Very very similar to homeopathics tho -- and a lot of folks who use one use the other.

The "Calms" that I talked about above IS a homeopathic tablet.  Very very safe -- often given to babies. (human babies I mean)  That and Hylands "Colic" is often found in the baby aisle of many regular stores.

Was thinking about purchasing some of this Rescue Remedy to try with Sasha an Jake. Was wondering is there different amounts you would give depending on the weight of dog or person and if so does it say that on the bottle?[:D]

Ok, so I've been doing it wrong, LOL. Why not anything but water?? I typically put it on top of a treat and hand it to Em. She accepts it well. I'm not sure how she'd feel about squirting it in her mouth, though.
