    Rescue story

Sara is outside this morning and she is barking. So I go see what she's barking at and I see the neighbor has 2 black doxies in her yard. I call her immediatly and she tells me that she got these 2 dogs late last night. A friend of hers had her dogs  stolen last year in Amhersturg  Ontario. The dogs were found in Nova Scotia in a puppy mill. The woman that had the dogs stolen in now termialy ill so she asked her friend (my neighbor) if she could take these dogs in.

She pays for the dogs to be shipped back home. One has had to be fixed because she had a litter of pups dead inside her. The other girl is very thin, so they are working on getting her healthy.

I guess what happened was, this puppy mill was raided and they found so many dogs dead, so many with chewed off limbs. These 2 girls were the luckier ones.
So my neighbor now has 5 dogs. She said she is going to try and find a home for the spayed girl. Of course I'm sitting on my hands, because I would love to take her, (if things are all good with her) but I don't think my hubby would allow me.

I'm just glad these dogs are home safe. It amazes me that someone would steal them and ship them across the country.

Makes me wonder what puppymill owners encounter the day they die, they float up to heaven surrounded by clouds and flowers, laughing children playing with puppies and kittens.  Music and chocolate in abundance.  Just as they are about to knock on heaven's great pearly gate, a giant booming disembodied voice laughs and says "What do you think you are doing HERE? Don't you think you're in the wrong line?"  A huge hand with forefinger pointing downward appears showing the puppymill owner the correct direction to go.  "Enjoy your eternity of dog doo cleanup!" sing the cherubs as they return to an endless game of 'get the stick'.

That is so despicable!  Another reason why you should spay/nueter  your dogs.  ThankGod they were found.

Should you end up able to take the dachsie... remind your hubby small dogs are less expensive and easier to care for than bigger doggies :).  Zoe only eats 1/2 cup of food a day.  But also, with dachsies you need to be very careful of back injuries.

Is your neighbor keeping the dogs outside?  I hope she brings them in!  It is great that she is helping.

Prayers are going her way! It's hard to say "no" to the ones who really need you and are looking for a forever home, trust me, I'm in that mposition right now myself again!
A friend called me and told me they had rescued a 8 (?) week oldish chihuahua mix and she knows how much I love dogs and wanted to know if I'd like to take him. *sigh* of course I would! But I can't. It's hard.
Good luck to your friend, and her pups!

She is doing very well with the dogs. She has them in the house with her. They had a few accidents, but she does not want to crate them since they have been caged. So she's working on it with them. I see her outside playing with them and she has a daughter that will be around them as well so they will be trained around kids. She has a male, that she's had for 4 years. He's registered and fixed, she doesn't want to breed, which is perfect, that's the last thing these girls need.

I'm not even going to bring it up, about taking in the dog. I just can't right now. If she doesn't find someone she knows to take the other girl, she is going to keep her as well.
