On the move....

    On the move....

, so it's been almost a week with my new dog --- Money .   she was given by me tutor who was forced to give it away.   It's been very well behaved and trained. 7 years old.
When it moved to my house, there are problems.1. she was taught to litter on the backyard bak in old home, but now IT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO LITTER in my backyard (especially). it rarely goes to bathroom, and in the mourning she could no longer hold it and pees on the carpet......... (so far twice)  o and shud i use thoese training pad for puppies?
    2. I dont't know if it was trying to get out of the cage while i was in school. but yesterday i came bak from school (Money's first experience to wait in the cage actualy) i noticed she got hurt on the nose, and it's been bleeding =(
    WHAT SHUD I DO?

Is it cut? If so take her to the vet. How could she hurt herslef on the cage? She is 7 years old, so I'm sure it's going to take her some time to get used to the new surroundings. Just bring her out often and when she does go potty giver her lots of praise.

How badly is it cut?  My dog has skinned his nose before, but it healed up nicely with some antibiotic cream.  By bleeding do you mean it's red? Or it's actually dripping blood?

I would go on a strict housebreaking schedule with Money.  Does she pee in certain spots?  Even if you've never had adog before, the previous owner of the house might have had dogs who peed in the carpet, which would make Money pee there as well.  Clean the spot with an enzymatic cleaner to get rid of all the smell.

Does she sleep in a crate?  If not, I would train her to sleep in a crate, then take her out immediately in the morning.  It takes some dogs a while to get used to crates, but it's the best tool for housebreaking your dog.  Also take her out right when you get home from school, once or twice during the afternoon/evening, and once again right before bed.

Don't use a puppy training pad.  It'll teach her that peeing in the house is acceptable, which will only confuse her.  Some older dogs might develop bladder problems, and not be able to hold in their pee.  But it sounds like Money was perfectly fine when she was with her previous owner.

Money just needs time to get used to her new environment.  It's very stressful for her to live in a completely new house after so long.  Let her get used to her new life, good luck.

but this mourning =(. his "nose cut issue"appears again :'(  . She's stopped doing that for about 3 days already since we got her a dog fence in the washroom and she lives there when we sleep/ go to school. last night i don't know what she did she got her nose cut and bleeding again. and the blood were everywhere(on the new stuff we gave him, not the old stuff for some reason) also on places where she sniffs(i assume from the marks).  i'm worried about her cut on the nose. why does she do it >_< .

Where are you? Are you outside the USA or Canada? I'm thinking English is not your first language, right? No problem, just makes it easier to communicate and help you if we know.

I bet she's hurting her nose on whatever fence there is trying to get out. We need more information as to how long she is alone, what kind of gate you have across the bathroom door, what toys she or he has and other objects in the room with her that might be dangerous... And if it is a female, it's a she; if it is male, it's a he. You refer to Money as both he and she at times, so let us know.

Hi, sorry about my bad english i get that alot hahaha lol. anyways. i'm still not sure how this all happened. but one possible reason i herd from other forums might be Self mutilation , rite now, she's stopped doing that for about 2 days, because later on. me and my family decided to go out WITH her in the trip only we lock her in the cage all the time. so she knows that hurting erself does no good but more time in the cage. she started weeeping and crying so we just kept her in the cage =/ . that time on we never saw her doing that anymore.......
here's a shortened video of what i saw on the spycam i took:
[linkhttp://media.putfile.com/hurting]http://media.putfile.com/hurting[/link]    the clip is 40 mins long, i took the part where he started hurting herself.it's the 5th minutes she started doing that. and that continued for awhiel . the towel was full of smudged blood....

I think we are a bit confused.

Does she have any toys in the "cage" or kennel, with her while you are gone?  Also, I notice she's panting A LOT.  Is it hot there?  Or is she really upset?  It looks like she's very stressed.  How long is she kept in her kennel every day?  Why do you put her in there when she cries?  Why is she crying?

When I'm training my dogs to use the bathroom outside, when I get up in the mornings I carrying them downstairs and go outside immediately and then put the dog down.  This helps for the dog to get into the habbit of not going to the bathroom inside.  Very quickly you will no longer need to carry the dog, but she will always have to go first thing in the morning, just as most people do :)  Also, I take the dog outside to potty often, even if they don't go then, I will keep going back outside (1/2 hrs intervals) until they do go to the bathroom outside and then PRAISE the dog highly.  Then I take a break for a few hours, then start over again.  It's a lot of work, but if she's already been house trained, she just needs to learn it again, at your house.  It will go much faster this way.

So, tell us, where are you from?

    Welcome to dog.com!

Ok, it's really a long story, so i'm a little confusing trying to explain it to you guys =/ . Firstly, my daily life is just school and normal stuff. The only time i keeep Money in the crate is when there's nobody in the house (school time, sleeping time), but we let her sleep on the coach now since the littering problem is solved. He tends to get REALLY stressed and upset when we get her into the cage. it's like hell for her. she would start panting and crying sometimes, there's no way it's hot. she's obviously upset. also we used to keep comfy stuff in the cage for her. but that time she was hurting herself and got blood all over those so we dont put anything there anymore....... it's actually quite weird. she pretty much just stooped hurting herself after that day. maybe ur rite, she mite be too energetic, since we never regularly walk her that first week, guess she's just trying to drain out all the energy..... now we walk her regularly 3 times a day, plenty of excercise. and we only put her in the crate when no one's home(which is school, or some other stuff in the weekend). I hope that problem was just because of excessive energy. it's what i seems like. she's stopped doing it. and i will continue reseraching what that behavior was.

What country are you in? Why do you refer to your dog as both a "he" and a "she?"

I'm very glad you walking and playing with your dog. It sounds like things are working out better. Is Money your dog, or the family dog? You are a teenager, I am guessing?

It's okay if your English is rough, we'll be kind and help you. [;)]

ok i'm really sorry about the english. it's bad the first place. and these days i have lots of exams so i only get a few minutes on the computer. not much time to reply so i just try to explain everything in a short time.
Money is a family dog, as i have explained before, eh... i think..... me, my brother dad & mom.   right now Money's doing fine. just hope that continues. i assume her behavior is self multilation~ lets hope it is not some creazy behavior.
    • Gold Top Dog
I would think it IS a problem when a dog is doing self multilation.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? You seem young.  You are tring to get help, and that is wonderful, but I myself find it hard to help, when you are not giving full answers. Someone asked you alot of questions.

    - why is she panting?
-Is it hot where you are?
HOW LONG is she in the cage? 4 hours or longer?
    These are really important things.
    • Gold Top Dog
We also ask where you are because we want to know what things are available for helping dogs where you are.

If we know where you are then we also know more of what the climate is like. It might not seem hot to you, but it might be very hot for a dog!

If your dog is terrified of the crate, don't put him in it.  Your dog is 7.  You can't just put a 7 year old dog in a crate and expect it not to freak out!

He is beating himself up to escape the prison crate, causing blood.  This is not self-mutilation.

It is better to lock him in the kitchen area with baby gates until he is potty trained.

You must know how to introduce a crate slowly and with treats.  You sound too young to know all these things.

Money is missing his old owner.  He needs time to mourn them.  The walks you are taking him on is very good.  Just give him lots of love.

I live in Canada, Edmonton. and trust me she's  NOT hot at all. she just does that when she's nervous.
Also Hollysmom, I've put her in a bigger area with baby gates. she does the same thing as well, she actually stopped doing that up until we took her to walks regularly. i'm quite sure her recent behavior is a cause of self multilation........ right now we keep her in the crate only when Me and my family goes to school/work. we let her sleep in our rooms at night. Sometimes when i wake up in the middle of the night to go to the washroom lol. she would start barking? haha it's kinda weird she's still awake.... anyways i think the problem is solved. But i'll also make sure her recent behavior was really self multilation
