I live in Mosquito Central. Well, it's worse out on the tundra, you don't go out there without a suit in summer, but here it's not *that* bad. But can be far worse than anything anywhere else, swamps aside. [

For a person, if you take an antihistamine, if you get bit you won't get the allergic reaction that is a bite, that is, you won't even know you were bit later. I learned that accidentally, and it's cool.
For a dog, well, most people up here actually do use citronella and rosemary. But mostly the dogs just get bit a lot. Luckily there isn't any heartworm where I live.
