Weed & Feed on Lawn - HELP!!!

How long do you think I should wait before I let my dogs touch the lawn after it's had this weed & feed stuff put down?

On the package, it just says "Keep all people and pets away from lawn until dust (if any) has settled."

Wow, that helps me a WHOLE lot... they don't even give me an approximate time...

    Help? >;.;<

I think I would water it in and let it dry first.

When we fertilize pastures, we wait for about an inch of rain before we turn the horses out on the pasture.  Of courses, horses are different as they actually eat the grass.  A dog is not as likely to do that.

Going from what you have said from the package directions, I would think after even a good dew you should be okay.

You would probably be fine after a couple hours.  However, if your dog licks his paws, I would wipe them down after coming in until the first rain.  And don't let him/her roll in it till then as well.

Weed and Feed needs to be put on when grass is damp so it sticks to the weeds and you dont' want to water it too soon because you'll wash off the stuff too quickly.  That's if it's in dry form.  Wet form, well you shouldn't water at all, really....well until it rains.

We just recently put down fertilizer only. The website suggested that you put the stuff down, and water it. You then should wait a full 24 hours before allowing your pets on the grass. It was a hassle, but worth it. Now all of our weeds are growing beautifully. [:D]

I was wrong...please disregard what I said about watering it in.  The website doesn't say anything about pets.  Maybe you could call the company and ask?

It really depends on the type of product you are using.  Reading the packaging is your best source of information.  "Weed and Feed" types of products, you should not water in.  They need to stick to the weeds for a day or so.   "Fertilizer Only" products, you can water in and some suggest doing just that.   So just depends.

We can't water till this evening...

I called Alameda this morning and they said it should be fine but if I want to be safer then to wait a couple days... so I guess I'll wait till tomorrow. >o.o<

We fertilized our lawn a while back, and the package said to wait a week.

I asked your question on a professional lawn care board I visit.  Although most of those guys seem to use liquid fertilizer, they said to just follow the directions on the package.
