What is Gotcha Day???

I did a google search on gotcha day, and I found something about humans and celebrating the day of adoption of a new child, so I'm guessing for dogs, gotcha day celebrates the day you adopted/ook your dog home from the breeder.

I think it's a great idea.  Those of us with shelter dogs really don't have a clue when their real birthdays are - Max's could be anywhere between early Feb. and the end of April.  So we celebrate *gotcha day* on July 21, which is the day I brought him home. []

Yup! It's what everyone else said, the day you got your dog. My Max's first one is today. 

I actually forgot what day I got my dog. Probably some time in october. But his birthday's easy to remember; it's on mother's day.

Kee Shu's will be easy - it was January 1.  Billy's is E-Z = it was money I got from my mother for my birthday I used to bail him out.  He didn't come live with us for another year, but he and I share Happy Days!
 
I need to check Luna's paperwork -- it's just about a year now!!  But mine ALWAYS have Gotcha Days -- I remember where and when I gotcha, but I haven't a CLUE when your birthday is!!!
 
But heck -- it's like being human.  You can have all the fun of presents, but you don't have to admit you're 'older' until ALL the presents are in. 
 
And well, since I count BACKWARDS it's not a problem anyway.  (I hit 40 and decided it had been SUCH a bad year I was just gonna "do over" -- and I figure when I back all the way to ... oh , some nebulous time in the future, I can always reverse it.  So, see this year I will be 28. 
 
I can promise you -- I will have MUCH more fun this birthday than I did then.  So far I've been fooling around with this 11 years and by glory, I've outdone the first one EVERY time!! 
 
So I think "gotcha" days are way better than anything else!!

Jasmine's Gotcha Day is April 24th and was celebrated properly, with presents and special treats!

Gracie's birthday was May 12th and her Gotcha Day is my birthday July 28th.  Love our rescue dogs!  Thanks for asking the Q for all of us - I had no idea either!

While distracted by special treats from the high-end pet store near us, she wore the hat.  When the treats were gone, the hat came off.  So, it was long enough for us to get pictures.  The hat came from the same pet store.
