    Prime example and venting....

I was in shock the other day. I go to my aunts house frequently, she lives about 4 minutes away. While I was visiting I heard her saying that Zoey (her 10 month old "long haired" pitbull) was in heat. Don't get me wrong, Zoey is gourgeous, but I have yet to hear about a purebred long haired pitbull. The worst part... They purposely put my cousins dog Soma in with her. They want puppies!

Let's see... Zoey is 10 months old. She's in her first heat. She's obviously not even purebred. Zoey has never been inside of a house. She is filthy, and has a lot of ticks. She's still a puppy!

Soma.... Is very dog aggressive. He actually tried to bite me too... of all people. I have never been afraid of a dog in my life, but I wont go anywhere near Soma. He too lives outside. Zoey and him both get to go in the garage, but that's it.

It's sad to think that I have people in my family BYBing....

Wow, it couldn't get much worse than that for breeding. What are they thinking? Do they want to make money off the puppies?

I know it's probably pretty touchy, but do they take to reasoning?

As far as I know there is NO such thing as a PB long haired pit. Urrrgh--as a bully owner you have NO idea how angry this makes me. Moer pups for thugs to raise. More pups to end up in shelters. More pups to die for no reason. And with an aggressive father to boot !! I will honestly pray that she doesn't take, not now not ever.

If this were my family member I would honestly consider stealing the dog and getting it spayed. OK--totally irrational, but it just makes me so angry....

My uncle is hard headed. I have spent the last couple of times visiting asking why they are creating more dogs. Trust me, I've said everything there is to be said... they just roll their eyes at me.

Christina, I know how you feel. I'm not owned by a pit anymore, but if anyone remembers, I took Buck from terrible people that were purposely attacking him in corners to make him bite back. They thought it was funny that he bit people over his food. After we got him, he was a different dog.

Soma on the other hand, wasn't raised to be mean, that's just the way he is. He doesn't have any good training. My cousin can barely get him to come when he's called. It's sad. This has been on my mind for a while now.

Wait... to top it all off.... My aunt lost her two dogs to heartworm two years ago. Koda and Scooter. (at least these two were rescues, and neutered) Zoey and Soma probably aren't even on heartworm meds...

There is no "long haired" variety of the American Pit Bull Terrier...it is a Pit mix.

And the saddest part is that if *dad* is mean and aggressive, the pups could very well carry that same gene. I can see it now - another load of pups on the way to the local shelter.[:(]

According to my aunt, Zoey's mother and father are beautiful purebred pits. The parents supposedly live together. I saw Zoey when they first brought her home and my first response was... "she looks like she's mixed with a st bernard" They refuse to give it up, and still think there was something weird that made her have long hair.

I have no clue what their intentions are. They're not poor, but they might sell the puppies. I sure hope she only has a couple.

I thought my aunt was smart... even my dad was shocked when I told him about his sister's plans.

    It's just disgusting.

Just wanted to say that I know where you are coming from. My cousin's outside only dog just recently had puppies. The dog itself is a mix and they have no idea who the father is. I tried so hard to get her to give that dog up. She became an outside dog because she had a small dog and 2 cats in the house (too many animals in the house so Sassy became an outside dog).

And to beat it all, they then bought another "supposedly" pure Bichon so that the female "pure" petstore bichon that they have will get pregnant. They want to sell the puppies. They lovingly offered to give me one for free since I have just recently lost my bichon (he got out and has yet to be found). I said no of course. Their female has always been sick, they don't get regular vet care and nothing I say can change their mind. I even tried to get them to come here but (in her opinion) everyone here is so "mean" to people that want to BYB that my cousin doesn't come here anymore.

It is frustrating but what can you do. Hope your aunts dog doesn't get pregnant.
