MC Saturday

Ah, what a delightfully LAZY day!!!  I've spent most of the day enjoying the sunshine and reading.  Between the dog walk and the lazing around.....heaven after the week I've had!

The weekend is going way too fast.  So far the bestest parts were the pizza Thursday night (there just ain't NUFFIN like NY pizza *sigh* washed down with cold beerYum!)

But the all time bestest part -- and probably one of the highlights of my life -- David didn't plan anything other than front row seats.  But the theatre the Miracle Worker is in is "in the round" (meaning the stage is in the middle like an arena) but literally right in front of my feet was

    THE WATER PUMP!!!

If any of you know the story of The Miracle Worker/Helen Keller -- her breakthru moment at the end is when she finally connects Ann spelling w-a-t-e-r with WATER.  I was literally 3 feet away from the BEST moment of the play.  I could have spelled it into her hand myself!

*sigh* aside from my personal connection with Helen, when I was in college *I* was housekeeper for a deaf blind lady up in Pensacola.  I really don't think David actually realized how incredibly special this was for me, even tho he new it was something I'd love.

It's unusual when something other than dogs trips my trigger but man -- an awesome memory.  I sure do miss my pups tho --

My best friend is just about ready to welcome her second child into the world according to the update I got at 6:30.....waiting for the great news on the edge of my seat currently. Squeeeeeeee!

Weeds fear me.  My back hates me. lol  What nice weather today and working in the yard was very rewarding.  My roses are blooming and my lemon trees are going to survive!  I thought the Meyer lemons were killed by our cold temps this past Winter but they are alive and sending out leaves.

Annie, if you're lurking around, you know you shouldn't have but I'm so tickled that you did. :)   ((Hugs))

I had a nice nap on the couch this afternoon.

ETA to tell Callie how happy I am that you're having a good time.  The Miracle Worker was a book I read over and over as a girl.  I completely understand how thrilled you must have been during the performance. :)

Erin, how exciting about the baby!  Fingers crossed for an easy delivery for your friend.

I've been trying to get the same one out for 3 days now!!!  (3 nice days I should say)  One big ole stump about 2-3 feet in diameter.  I'm too cheap to hire someone to do it so a shovel axe and recip saw is my friend now!  Only 14 more after this one!

My other big weed problem is crabgrass.  Damn stuff keeps coming up every year in the same area!  :(

Callie, good to hear you're enjoying yourself in NY.  Hope you have a blast and have some memorable experiences.  You need a good break away from the puppers world for a little bit.  I'm sure the furkids are being spoiled and having fun.

Did you have to mention NY pizza.....got me drooling here now!

Hope everyone had a good day...and night.

    Cheers

I went to Home Depot earlier and got some pots and plants, but I'm going to have to make a second trip and drag one of the boys with me.  Those big bags of dirt are just too heavy to lift.  They were giving out free hot dogs, chips and bottled water so a free lunch kind of makes it worthwhile.  Wonder if they'll be doing that again tomorrow? And .... I discovered my tax refund from the state and the feds in my checking account this morning.  Oh Yea!!  I quickly transferred most of it from checking to savings.  Less temptation to piddle it away. Big Smile

Jackie please come by my house - weeds are laughing at me and overtaking the universe.  Out of control weeds is like a big sign that says Welcome to Spring

Meg I hope my frog/toad makes it as a tripod - if he is still out there.  I'll have nightmares tonight, totally freaked me out

Bugsy recalled his favorite pool activity - standing in it and having a huge drink.  I don't know how he actually took in all that water!

DH went bowling tonight - my goodness we had a laugh

Erin congrats - itty bitty babies Big Smile

I worked on our taxes today. Ugh, what a bad way to spend the day. I got to the part where you can import investments from other financial institutions, so chose that option. It was like watching a slot machine go around. We went from owing about $8K to the feds and $4K to state to owing $98K to the feds and $71K to the the state. LOL!! Based on what others on turbotax were saying, I found out that it only shows the sale of investments not that you ever paid anything to own it before you sold it, so I had to go in and input that information. It looked a lot better when I was done.

Glenda, I'm so glad that your MIL has made such a turnaround.

Cathy, I feel your pain re:taxes.  My accountant called today to let me know what I owe.  YIKES!  I tried to explain to him that I have a kid in private school, a pack of dogs, & a high maintenance husband, & that I really didn't want to have to give the govt that much money.  He has a very dry/non exsistent sense of humor but he died laughing at the high maintenance husband line.  I am searching for more deductions.  Surely, I have more that I just haven't thought of yet...

I've had a busy, busy day.  I took Cher to tracking & obedience.  Then, I went & helped out with an adopt-a-thon.  I ended up making home visits, so that some of the dogs adopted today could go home immediately, which was very nice.

DH & the kids are still in Houston.  They went to a gun show today, & they are watching the Duke/Baylor game tomorrow.
