DOG PARK!! He had never gone there before and I'm soooooo proud.
He was very excited to get in the car when we left. It's like he knew we were going somewhere fun. I know there is certain essentials one should take to the dog park and I'm sure I didnt get them all, but I'm not used to going there because Brownie is too old to play rough with the big dogs and Cuddles is agressive/reactive to other agressive dogs. All I took was water for me, water for Lion, two towels in case he decided to swim, and a retractable leash and his collar. What else should I bring next time?
We walked around outside the fence for a little while to give him time to get use to so many other dogs there and he said hello to a few dogs before they walked in. Then I decided he was ready to go in. He met a VERY rambunctious terrier that was in his face happy and he greeted her calmly, a very adorable female pittie who decided to smother his face with kisses which he did fine with, and little Chihuahua's that were very scared of him and he didnt try to chase them thank doG.
Then we walked towards the back where the bigger dogs were and he met a Golden who was sopping wet from swimming, a Chow who was soooo sweet and they turned into best buddies, a very hyper-active Visla who came up and barked in his face, and a mutt named Karma who he also befriended and they chases each other around. At that point I decided to let him off leash and he of course being a Newfie/Lab ran straight for the water. There was a couple throwing a ball in for their two black labs and we asked if Lion could join in the game. They said sure, and he shared very nicely. He got very wet and muddy but had a GREAT time. There was a small scuffle when his black lab friend tried to take the ball right out of his mouth but we difused the situation quickly by ending the game and I called Lion to go walk around the fence. His chow friend Shiloh decided to join us. After that, we left to go home.
He got a bath in the driveway after that and he was soooo happy! He sure enjoyed his day! I'm such a proud dog mommy!!!
