Kirby wants to let everyone know he has proof now he is the toughest dog on the block. I was taking him out to pee earlier. We live on an acre but only the backyard is fenced and the fence doesn't go all the way up to the back door. Often I will just take him out and let him go along the back fence/side yard and since I consider him reliable enough he is usually off lead. Well today I was taking him out as usual. I was only half paying attention at the time since I had my pokewalker out, yes I'm currently a pokemon addict.
All of a sudden I heard Kirby do his little growl rough and he shot out from beside me and did his stiff bunny hop bound he does when he sees something He doesn't actually chase things so much as he will do his stiff legged bunny hop for several feet before coming to a stop in a bristling position. I looked up to see he was grrring at figuring it was the squirrel again but instead see a massive black and white dog that appread to be Great Dane or some Dane cross standing in the middle of our next door neighbor's driveway. Thankfully the Dane took one look at all nine pounds of Kirby striking his I'm tough pose and fled around the corner of the house. At that point I was recalling Kirby even though he wasn't going after the dog because I wasn't sure if the other dog might decide Kirby wasn't so intimidating looking and decide to come back. I'm proud to say Kirby immediatly came running back when called and I took him inside and gave him a huge chunk of fresh meat for being such a good boy.
After that I quickly trotted back outside with my slip lead to see if I could see where the other dog had run off to but I didn't see him anywhere. I know most the dogs in our neighborhood and I've never seen that one before. I'll be keeping my eyes out in case I see him again or see any posters/people looking for a similar dog so I can at least let them know I saw a possible sighting. Hope he makes it safely back to his home. =(
