Blue's hurt

    Blue's hurt

I went and let the dogs outside to let them stretch their legs since the weather is getting warmer when I started getting Cadey a little wound up when she took Blue down with her line doing zoomies. He yelped and the next thing I know Cadey has Blue's ear in her mouth and she wouldn't let go. We finally get her to release his ear after having to choke her it was the only way we could get her to let go of him. He has several bite wounds on his ear after cold wash cloth I washed his wounds cleaned them with peroxide. Thing is his ear is sore to the touch and I'm just wondering if there is anything I can give him?

Wonder if a topical antibiotic would help any.

Hope it heals quickly with no worries.

Sorry the picture isn't that great this is from my camera phone all the dark places are dried up blood he has good size wound on the back of his ear that I've been cleaning. I'll be cleaning his wounds at least 3 times a day. BF and I have came to agreement that if this happens again Cadey will have to be rehomed.

It's unfortunate to think that, but if she can't contain herself when she's excited, she might do better as an only dog. I can't see it well, but cleaning often is enough, most times. Sometimes, they do need antibiotics for ear wounds, but only if it's infected. Ears seem to get hurt, first, so I've had a little too much experience with ear punctures, LOL. Keeping it clean and dry is usually enough, from what I've seen.

If you can shave the hair around the wounds, you can decrease the likelihood of it becoming infected.  You won't have hair packing up in there while the wounds are trying to heal.

I would clean it once a day, & put aloe vera gel on it once a day.  Giving him something like Traumeel would probably help speed up the recovery time as well.

Unfortunately, that's what I was thinking, too.  Dogs that get excited are one thing, but dogs with no bite inhibition when they get excited, well...that's a red flag.

I know if we do rehome Cadey I will make sure she will be the only dog and I think she she triggered by Blue's crys when he gets hurt or something most of the time when she is excited they play with each other.

I play on taking some scissors later  to remove the hair around some wounds on Blue's ear there is no way he would let me shave it besides some of the wounds are on the very tip of his ears. Thanks guys I'll make a trip out to the dollar store tomorrow for some things for him right now he's been spending time in the bedroom which he doesn't care.
