ahhh Katie -- you two ladies and your "pirate" dogs!!!!! (Jack is Pirate's 'cousin' *grin*)
He's acclimating and he's not liking sharing you probably. This is a training thing, Katie -- everything that Amanda said. Tire him out BIG TIME, the Calms has to be given about an hour before bedtime -- and it's not going to PUT him to sleep -- it's a relaxant. But you could add a passionflower capsule or a valerian capsule probably 15 minutes before bedtime as well if you want.
Give him an x-pen or some area in the bedroom that's his ... just a comfy bed. It will take you a few days, and maybe weeks to accustom him to the new routine. "Nope, Jack - time for sleep." I'd keep him on your side of the bed if you can -- you can crate him if you need to, but not if he's crated all day long.
Just be consistent Kate -- same thing every single night. Don't try to do something different night after night after night. It will just promote more angst.
Make sure he is getting LOTS of one on one time with *you* -- he's likely not liking sharing you. Consistency ... CONSISTENCY ... I know it's a dreaded word, but it's what will work.
*YOU* humans will have to suffer for a few nights to get him trained. Removing him will only make him more ang-sty and unhappy. It could also make him resent your fella even more.
