Question about a new dog update

Sounds to me like she is suffering from dementia.

I had to take DeeDee to the vet today. She had bloody stool. The vet says it could be the change going from on home to the next and gave me some pills for her. I am suppose to call them if she gets worse. Temp is fine and overall she looks good he says.

Aww - smooches to poor DeeDee.  Smooch smooch smooch smooch!!  Think you can get a picture of her posted?

As for Great Aunt and getting the new dog scanned - a vet may have the scanner.  Surprises me sometimes how many dogs are microchipped and how few vets have the scanner.  The non-profit shelters/rescues can get a discount from AKC CAR.
I don't envy her vet, either - he must be frustrated by her swapping dogs, and her odd behavior, too.

i think its great you want to keep DeeDee.  I'd think having one more is not really going to matter to DH.  They are small dogs and you already have more than 2.  She doesn't seem to be causing problems so why say no?  If he ends up being completely against it for some reason, don't rush to give her to someone you have a bad feeling about.  If nothing else, give her to a rescue group, I can think of 2 dachshund ones, so they can help socialize her like you were, and find a good home for her.

So now is the aunt going to get rid of that dog for being heartworm positive and not wanting to deal with it?

Amy.. yes it was a Val. present (but was actually from Xmas time... got it on clearance).  It is her fave toy right now, even though she tried to commit stufficide with it 2 nights ago!

My husband loves the dog. We had been told that DeeDee is very shy, which she really is and especially around guys. The breeder is widowed and since her dogs are kept separate from everything I would not be surprised if she had never been around guys in her life.
My husband walks through the door( still had not told him that we have a "guest") and she walked right up to him and started to wag her tail. I think she was trying to butter him up.
I quickly told him why she is at our house and he just scooped her up and held her the entire afternoon. Walking on the leash and going potty outside is still going well. She has not had anymore problems with her tummy either.
Our greataunt is keeping the other dog( as of right now) despite that he is heartworm positive.

We changed DeeDee's name to Sydney. She did not listen to DeeDee anyway.
She is still doing great. She loves to go to sleep in the laundyroom and now I am wondering if I should put her a bed in there since she loves to be in there so much.
She gets a bit jealous when she sees the other dogs being pet and she wants to be right there and get some loving also.
Went by to see our greataunt this evening. Finally got a closer look at her new dog. He is a pretty black and tan dachshund. I checked his teeths and there is only a tiny bit of plague which makes me wonder if they had been cleaned. Normally little dogs have a tendency of having problems with tartar build up and plague and he does not seem to have this problem. The vet thinks he may be around 6 years old. I told our aunt tonight that someone might miss the dog and if she had any other info. She told me that he had hung around this other womans house( the lady from homehealthcare) for about 3 days so she kept him in her backyard until our aunt took him.
I checked for any tatoos and he does not have any.
I really wonder who misses him. Someone surely does. I would. He is a handsome little guy.
I would hate to take a dog away from her even after the way she done DeeDee, but if I knew who misses this dog I would do what I could to return him to his owners.
(Things like this bug me...[:)] and I want to "investigate".Since I got my PC two years ago and went online I have found 5 people. Never had to pay a dime. Just spent lots and lots of time online and that's all it took. I had lost touch with one of my friends 13 years earlier and then I found a friend of a friend after them not being in touch for 23 years. They talk to eachother almost daily now).
I might go online and check the newspaper ads from the past few months of our hometownpaper and see if anyone has a dachshund missing. I know this may sound kind of mean towards our aunt, but just the thought that someone is heartbroken over losing this dog...I just want to give it a try.
Even thou the heartwormtest was positive it was considered a mild positive. Which means I assume that he just recently was infected with them. Living in this state where mosquitos are a year round problem I figure the dog may have been an inside dog or at least was on the prevention.
What do you all think? Should I just leave this alone or should I try to pursue this?
