Thursday chatter

my daughter cracks me the heck UP. Just now...she turns off the TV in disgust and stalks past me shaking her head...and says,

"I finally understand this song now (Who Let The Dogs Out?)...it's not about DOGS, at all...it's about crazy people!"

LOL Gina.  Between the dogs and the kids, you certainly aren't lacking for entertainment, eh?

Amanda, beautiful house!  Thanks for sharing a pic, I can see why you would love it so much.

I'm home alone, which rarely happens, and can't decide what to do, or not do.

Dogs never cease to amaze.  Every day when I get home from work and let them out to pee, Harry grabs a ball and takes it outside with him, so that after he's done his business we can play fetch for a while.  He always drops the ball nearby while he lifts his leg.

This evening the routine was just like any other day, except that he dropped the ball, stepped forward, and proceeded to pee on the ball. Hmm  Then he went to pick it up and was like, "Uhhh, what just happened?"  He would sniff it, hop back, and whine.  Hey, dummy, YOU'RE the reason it smells like pee!!  *headdesk*

Thankfully it was a rubber ball, so I was able to wash it off with some dish soap and now its good as new.

LOL - I needed a funny visual like that.

I got my hair done this afternoon and it turned out great. That's about the highlight (no pun intended) of my day. Otherwise it's been way too busy and involved way too many idiots. I'm too tired to even want to borrow the 2x4.

DH's credit card got hacked again. Think that if you use it a bazillion times on the internet, that might happen? Confused

Happy to oblige, lol.  And here I was thinking he was above average in the intelligence department.  Thank you, Harry, for proving me wrong. *sigh*

Oh, no!  What a hassle.  Sorry you guys have to deal with it.  Hopefully it won't be a huge mess.

My boss has decided all techs who went to a conference must go to dinner tomorrow night to discuss what they learned. No one is getting paid for going, but must attend. I did not go to the conference (and haven't gone for two years), but am required to go as well.  Now, the receptionists who did not go to the conference don't have to go learn from those that did, but we techs do. When people said that a Friday was a poor choice to hold something like this, she literally went into a bats**t screaming fit about ungrateful people. The others, who always give into these fits and thus reinforce it as proper behavior, decided not one should "upset" her.  And, she feels people need to "bond outside of work"...I disagree. I have never felt the need to do outside of work things with my coworkers, have a strong sense of work vs home (it's how I keep a much more level head and remain less stressed than all of my coworkers) and I am really, really not pleased about having to give up my plans that I had to go to this thing. It's really become the most annoying thing of my week.  I refuse to eat there, as I'm not paying for somewhat expensive food when I already had plans to have dinner elsewhere and under far more enjoyable circumstances

    /vent over :p

in nonrelated news, I am starving woe but don't know what I want to eat

LOL, is she serious?  Yeah, that's just what I'd want to do with my Friday night--discuss what other people got out of a work conference!!  I'm with you, I try to get a break from my co-workers on weekends.  Our place is always having parties for whoevers birthday, nights out for drinks, etc.  It gets to be too much time together.

I would simply tell my boss "I am sorry I already have plan's and can't make it" - you should not be required to attend an off site meeting especially on a Friday without sufficent notice - that's crap!

Jackie so glad you popped in and gave an update on Charles, the puppers and I are sending lots of healing and get home soon vibes!!

AMANDA!  Awesome digs!  Can't wait to party on that deck!  My DH is just like yours he would say "if you really want it and we can afford it" let's do it!  Actually it would be his idea before mine.Wink

My new cleaning lady started today and spend 5 hours cleaning my house in every corner, crack and crevous - I am so happy, let's hope she keeps up the great work.

    TGIF tomorrow!!  woohoo!!!

Grab, I'm going to push the 2x4 your way. If you feel the need to use it on your boss, who IMO deserves it, I won't say a word! :)

The house is a no go. It needs around $70K in repairs before it can be insured. The owner isn't flexible on the price & I'm not paying that much. Even though I love the house I would have to take on another mortgage to make it work. I'm not willing to do that, so no house. For now...

My DH is so sweet. He just picked out a handfull of red jelly beans for me. He knows that I don't like any othr flavors.

Agreed - although if you're at a level where not socializing like this could hurt you politically within the company, sometimes it's best for your career to bite the bullet and do the schmoozy bonding things... even when they're at your expense.  Sucks, but office politics are ugly.

Rock on!  Did you do a drug and background check on her?  I've heard there are certain drugs that make people AWESOME house cleaners. lol

Ok, back to studying....  wish me luck!  More geography.

Being an in-home pet sitter, I don't see my coworkers too often...it's great!!

    Study study Paige!

You should buy a house in NSB Amanda :) the majority of the big houses are cheap because no one can spend that kind of money to buy them.

I am so glad that so many people agreed with my rant!! In fact, I present you with Rant #2...

BF and I went to the wine bar up the street for 'ladies night'. I was the DD, so I wasn't drinking. One of the guys BF works with came with his wife, and the first thing this woman does is GRAB my left hand. At first I was like, 'wtf?' but then I remembered I got engaged and she probably wants to see the ring. The next thing I know, she's sitting next to me blabbling about all sorts of wedding-related crap that I don't even care about, considering I mentioned, TWICE, that we have not set a date and are seriously considering eloping.

This is why I am not a social person!

    • Gold Top Dog

Not really caught up, so apologies.

Meg, that would weird me out, too. Weddings and babies seem to be the great uniters - if you're associated with either, suddenly you can be BEST FRIENDS with anyone else also somewhat associated with either.

Julie, really sorry to hear that there was trouble with Sunshine. It sounds like whatever it is, it's a big deal, and I'm sure you're really disappointed and stressed by the whole experience. I really hope things turn around for you.

Tina, that Agnes bite sounded painful! I hope it's healing okay.

Deb, I want to see your salad-butt.

Amanda, sorry about the house, that must be a disappointment.

Around here, BF's parents' neighbors had a bear attack on their property. They have alpacas, and one of them was really savagely attacked by a black bear. The alpaca got immediate intense vet care and looks like it will be okay, but there's a big hubbub in the area because bears around here don't typically attack animals at all, let alone a decent-sized alpaca. The alpaca family actually has a Great Pyrenees that they got to be something of a LGD for their alpacas, but I think they "went soft" Wink and the dog is mostly a housepet instead. It was indoors at the time of the attack. Makes me wonder if the dog could have prevented the attack, or if the dog would have been injured instead. Yikes!

BF and I have been getting bad news on grad schools so I'm really depressed, but trying not to think about it. I just got back from a trip to visit my sick grandmother, who is probably dying, but at least she seems mostly peaceful and comfortable.
