    New Puppy

My wife and I have discussed getting a dog for a long time now. I had two cats when we started dating (we've only been married about 6 months now) and we've had a blast with them. I grew up with cats my whole life. My wife had a dog and cats while growing up as well.

This last weekend I surprised her with an early birthday present of a new Weimaraner puppy girl. We've named her Neela Flores. I've always given my pets first and last names. We pick her up on March 20th, 2010 (10 days) and we're very excited. I know she will be a head-ache and a half for the first few weeks/months during training but we're ready.

She will be exactly 8 weeks old when we get her. The picture you see there was taken about 4 days ago.

My wife has always liked Vizslas and Weimaraners. I'd never seen one until about 2 years ago. We just so happened to walk into a bike shop where one of the employees brings in his Weimaraner. She was a beautiful dog and very well behaved. I immediately agreed that a Weimaraner is the type of dog I'd like to get.

I like the idea of a large dog so that when my wife goes running with the dog other people will be less likely to give my wife trouble. (but that's just the paranoid husband thing...)

We wanted a girl because we've always heard they are usually more docile and less likely to want to 'run the pack'. Also, they don't tend to be as large as males.

We are getting her from a breeder who lives in central Tennessee. Her father is a Int Ch. You can read about the breeder on her website - incredibullk9s.com.

Also, I'll be sure to keep the pictures coming...

I'm new to this site and will hopefully be around a lot more in the future looking for training, grooming and health care advice. Thanks in advance!

p.s. My cats are named Tony Bridgeman and Eva Moore.

Hi and congrats on the puppy!  You have picked a very active breed as I understand it!  I think they are beautiful!  We will look forward to pics and there is lots of good help on this site.   WARNING****  This site can be habit forming!

Congrats on the new addition and welcome to the forum.  Ditto on the pics request!
