Last night I had my two GSDs with me. My yard is a cesspool so I took them a few blocks away to a church yard to potty, run, and do some training. I saw the loose dog and hung back. Nikon is dog aggressive at loose dogs that charge him, plus it was on a very busy corner so I didn't want him to see me and dart across the road. Then I saw a kid walking around, trying to call the dog. I also saw a car that kept pulling over and hanging back, so I assumed it was a parent. When we were done at the church, I did not see the dog or the kid on our way home. I did not call AC because there was someone trying to catch the dog, and it was the nice one we caught, not the aggressive one. My dog has escaped more than once so I'd hate if someone called AC while I was out there doing everything I could to catch him.
Yea, but the dog obviously has an untreated injury. I know what you mean, I dont call AC the second I see a loose dog as long as it is not causing a problem. If the dog is willing to come to me, I check him for a collar/tags to see if there is a number I can call. There is one dog, a golden retriever named Koda, that is running loose ALL the time. He wears a collar w/ tags, which has a phone number on it. I know where he lives so most of the time I just walk him home. The people really do not care, when I bring him home they arnt happy to see him, they dont even say thank you for brining him home. Ive walked him home sooo many times, the most recent time I brought him home, it was no more than 20 minutes later, Koda was in my yard again. Some people just dont care. Now I just call AC every time I see him because even though I dont want to see him get hit by a car or anything, I am not going to walk him home every time I see him when he is just going to be let back out as soon as I leave.
If you see the dog out again and the leg still looks untreated I would effinitely call AC...
