    I did it.....I caved

Nigel and Sydney finally got a bite of raw chicken tonight.  I was making a chicken enchilada casserol and I had more chicken than I needed but you can't re-freeze chicken you know....so I gave them each just a couple of bites.  At first they both held it in their mouths, then Sydney spit it out onto the floor, picked it up, chewed it again, spit it out and then picked it up again and then it was gone.  Nigel didn't bother with those prelims....his was gone.  Now Sydney is going back and re-checking the bowls...hahahahahahaaaaaa   You think she liked it?  Hopefully this won't make her anymore tootie than she has been all day long!!!!!   If it does you guys are in trouble for convincing me of the good things of raw.  [sm=evilfire.gif]

I haven't had any trouble with Blue eating raw. He loves RMB night,

which reminds me I better give Blue his RMB tomorrow before Katie comes.

Boss lives for his frozen chicken leg he gets every morning. He lets me know if I forget before I go to work. He follows me towards the door, then goes and stands in front of the fridge, looking up at the freezer.

Haven't let Gracie try it yet.

Jasmine loves bits of raw chicken, or raw beef, when I'm cooking!

Eh? Who knows how many times the chicken in the stores up here has been frozen and thawed on the way up?! They thaw it out to sell it, and I refreeze it all the time with no problem! No chicken comes to Alaska fresh! No ill effects yet!!

I always thought the refreezing thing was quality not safety.  I refreeze chicken and other meats regularly 'cause I'm not exactly a gourmet cook. [:D

But I'm sure the dogs quite enjoyed their treat.  My cat really loves to hang around my feet when I've got raw pork.

I was always told that once you open freeze it at home and then thaw it, don't re-freeze it again.....not sure of the science behind it, but it's a habit of mine that I have always done.  I only like to pull out what I am going to use to begin with.

Anyway, they are both very attentive when meals are being prepared, but after those couple pieces of chicken they were extra attentive....hahahahaaa   And everyone is safe....Syd didn't gas us out of house and home!  hahahaaa

LOL, you sound like me. Even though I think raw is a good choice, it's just not something I do. However, after years on this board I fine myself doing the same thing. A frozen chicken breast, here and there, I've found as a good recreational bone substitute. Also, when I have meat that's a day or so after buy date, the dogs get it.

They still don't like chicken guts - yuck. But they seem to like all the other stuff.

    MMMMM.....chicken enchiladas...hmmmmm......[:D]

Yeah, not sure I will ever go to a totally raw diet for them, but it seems that they are not opposed to the occasional sampling of it!  heheheee[8D]

PS ~ Leslie, saw your pic in the "What does everyone look like" thread and you look a lot like my husband's cousin...I had to do a double take!

Ah! Chicken enchiladas! If I want some, I have to make them. There is NO good Mexican food in Fairbanks. waaaah!

    (sorry for going off topic!)
