    Dinner Last Night

Nothing too exciting, but I figured I'd post my little story.
We are planning on switching George to a Raw diet pretty soon.  I'm the one doing all the research so I share bits and pieces with DH all the time.
Last night as he's making dinner (yes, he's the cook in the family) he asks if George can have a Chicken Thigh.  Sure, why not?  He'll like it, right?  So, DH puts the skin-less, bone-less thigh in his dish.  George sniffs it, pokes it with is nose, and then looks up at DH as in "what's this and what am I supposed to do with it?"

My DH thought that he didn't like it.  I waited a few minutes, george was making no progress.  I then cut up the thigh into strips and George proceeded to finish his dinner.

So, now my DH is FULLY convinced that our pup is very very spoiled.  (well, he is kinda :) Not only is he cute and has us trained to pet on cue, he now gets his food cut up for him.  too funny.  (i explained that it was probably an awkward (sp?) size for him, too small to tear and too big to eat whole.

That is our funny story for the day.

Too funny, Willow is that way too her food has to be just so or she'll just walk away from it.

Sally is very strict about her food--if it doesn't jump out of the dish first, she eats it, and if it does--even better!

Funny. Max does the same thing, even though he's a big dog.  You'd think that he could chomp up and swallow anything, but if I give him something that he thinks is *too big* he just stands there and looks back and forth from me to it until I cut it up for him.  The he very daintily eats it, one bite at a time. He just isn't a gulper.

haha, "spoiled" is such a misused word!

I have to keep everything small for Slick cause he's a major gulper.  He's swallowed an NV Prairie medallion WHOLE - so now I have to cut them up!

Shari does this too.  She's not a gulper at all.  I can almost eat faster.

I grew up with a German Shepherd and a Rottweiler/Doberman mix and both of those dogs downed their food! They just swallowed it, no chewing or anything! I never understood how they enjoyed any treats because of the way they inhaled it.

Imagine my surprise when I got Ash, an Australian Cattle Dog, who actually CHEWS her food. I didn't even know that dogs could do this until I got her! I'm being serious! I thought they ALL inhaled their food because that was how she ate. I was captivated by this for a few months.Ash chews her food, licks her lips, and burps when she's done!
