some little dog owners...jeeez...

Yeah,I can understand, though thankfully I haven't had any bad encounters that I can think of. It does annoy me a lot when little dogs get away with being nasty, just because they probably wouldn't be able to do as much harm as a bigger dog. My dog (Cassidy) is 85 lbs, Lab/GSD cross, and is well behaved, never had any problems with other dogs ( unless they attack her; she's on the sibmissive side and not dominant) . When I'm walking Cassidy ( like in the pet store) and some little dog starts barking and lunging at her, while Cassidy is walking nicely right next to me. Then the owners will say something like "better not mess with that dog" or "stay away from the big dog", just because she is big. But it's their dog that's causing the trouble! Anyway, had to add my two cents.

I have a little dog, about 23 pounds, and he can be a nasty little guy on leash. [:o]  I have tried different methods of working with him and they weren't the right ones.  Last fall I started treating his "leash aggression" as leash fear and have seen improvement.  But he does the snarling, barking, lunging thing at other dogs, especially other dogs doing the same thing. He's also been attacked on leash from out of no where before so that's my fault and after not dealing with it for a few years (joined IDog in Jan '06), he's pretty snotty.   [:(]  I just wish Anne lived in my town so she could help us.

I guess I know my dog is that way so I either avoid it, or try to redirect him....so we're not the obnoxious ones.
