Isis and her bone question

    Isis and her bone question

Whenever I give Isis a marrow bone to chew on she'll lie down with it in front of her and then she'll start to whine. She doesn't stop whining and proceed to chew on it until I sit down, which is why I am on the computer right now, so she can enjoy her bone! The only time during the day when I sit down is when Im at the computer. Why must I be sitting for her to enjoy her bone??? I can't figure it out.

Okay - i am willing to go out on a limb here and say that since this is the most super special greatest treat in the universe (LOL) that she needs your presence as supreme ruler to protect her and allow her to relax and enjoy?

Truthfully I have no clue and would chalk it up to "just one of those things" that makes us love them even more!

[:D][:D] That's funny!  Isis sounds *suspicious* like my old dog was.  She's probably thinking "Hmm.  If mom is standing up, she just might decide to take this away from me.  If she's sitting down and working on something, I've got a better chance of keeping it." :)

Probably prefers to follow you from room to room and all that right... your shadow dog[:)]... anyway, she may just want you to be still so she can enjoy it without having to keep getting up to follow you somewhere.

Ya know you could very well be right Loveukakay!  I know it's related to me somehow, but didn't understand why it made a difference whether I'm standing (working) or sitting.   I suppose she knows when I'm at the computer, I usually am there for qutie a while!

    The whining is just weird!

What a smart girl!  She says MOM!  Would you just sit and be still so I can chew!?[:D]

I'd agree it sounds like Isis just wants you to sit still so she can take a break from keeping an eye on you and focus on her bone. Do you have a crate? Maybe she would prefer chewing her bone in there, that way she will know for certain even if you move, she wouldn't be able to. It's worth a try!

On a similar note, my childhood dog, a Westie named Dickens wouldn't eat his treats unless he felt he deserved it. If I didn't make him sit or at least tell him 'good boy' before  giving him the treat he'd follow me around and spit it out right onto my foot as soon as I stood still!! [:D]
