Let's see...what's not for me?
Giant dogs. I love Danes and St. Bernards and the like, but I just couldn't have that large of a dog around, deal with all their special size-related issues (especially as they're growing) and have the heartbreak of knowing their lifespan will be fairly short.
Teeny tiny dogs. I like a dog that's a good medium to largish size. I wouldn't want to be worrying about hurting a little Yorkie or anything. Plus I want a dog that can go hiking and whatnot with me.
Pit bulls and related breeds that are banned places. I love them. I think they're great. But the breed bans make me shy away from them. What if I ended up getting a job in a place that had banned them? I live in apartments right now and what if I can't find a new apartment that allows them? The thought of having to give up a dog I loved because of other people's idiocy just breaks my heart and so I stick with breeds that I know won't be banned anywhere.
Short-coated breeds. Not that I don't like them, but I really love a dog I can sink my hands into. Give me a long-coated or medium coated breed anyday!
Breeds I particularly just don't care for? Chihahuas, Old English Bulldogs, Pekingneses, Pugs, Dachshunds, Basset Hounds, Bloodhounds, and Bedlington Terriers.
Breeds I really LIKE? I love the herding breeds...Border collies (I own a border collie/lab mix), Aussies, and the like. Also some spaniels -- Brittanys, Springs and the like.
And to break my "tiny dogs" thing, I've always adored Papillons. They're just too cute, but look SO fragile.
