I'm sorry I am no good at "name that dog", but I just wanted to say that he is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

What a beauty! I must say he looks like what I think my Maggie will look like grown up (she is only 6mnths) she is the same coloring and everything. I would guess German Shepherd and something.
They say ( where we adopted maggie from that is) mine is gsd/siberian husky mix, but I don't know if I see SH in your guy.

He sure is a looker though!!

Well thank you , i just love him and his eyes omg he'll look at you givin gu the puppy look when you tell him no and icant resist , well his previous owner said he has wolf blood mixed and i mkind of worried about that! Wolf hybirds can be dangerous and mind you Bear is only 5 months old and already about 55 lbs , I think maybe he has wolf in him he sure looks it and boy does he howl , he has to stay out doors all the time because of him trying to kill my cats! We trid house breaking him but no sucess so he lives out doors.

Wow, he is only 5 months? He is huge!! I thought he was older than that.

it is possible that he may be a wd mix...if so,the first thing you want to do,as long as your sure you want to keep him,is find out if it is legal in your area to keep him...if not, then DO NOT tell anyone what you think he is...husky or mal mix is what you ought to tell anyone interested in him..

there are alot of misconceptions about these wd's..the wolf is not an overly agressive animal.most aggressiveness will come from the dog in the mix.

i would suggest you research these guys...there are some sites that are anti wolf dog...they will tell you all the negative things about these pups.they CAN be raised correctly if your willing to do what needs to be done..obiedieance training at this point should be a serious concern along with socialization amoung other dogs and people!

these dogs act unlike anyother dogs...

is he shy around strangers? does he like to mouth elbows ,is his tail straight or does it curl up?a straight tail that doesnt curl or point up is a good sign for wd..or high content wd.

i would say, judging by his size he very well may have some wd in him..huge ears, big paws and long legs....maybe some husky in there too...does his mouth seem longer than a husky to you...?

anyway...besides what i have allready said, containment is a big thing...these pups will dig a 2 foot deep hole in 30 seconds...they dont like bieng on a run and will pace alot back and forth if stressed.a good sized kennel, reinforced and escape proofed  with a roof he cant climb under would be the way to go...these dogs can and will climb a chain link fence....i would walk him on a choker or prong collar...this dog could get up around 100 lbs,and they are strong as a bear...if not heel trained, you could end up going where he wants to go...

he is gorgeous, and with work,he will be a great dog for you...if he isnt fixed allready,i would recommend it highly.

my boy Kuruk(Pawnee for Little Bear)is 10 moths old and is getting upward of 80 lbs...good luck and please keep posting on his progress..

lastly,i do not believe in the breeding of these dogs, but do not believe ,once in the world, these pup ought to be put down just because of what they are....it only takes someone with devotion to raise them correctly..do this and you will have a great pup.

I don't SEE any mix in him.  He looks to me like a purebred red and white Siberian Husky to me, just oversized.  I don't see any wolf in his face or eyes.

If you think he's mixed, say Husky mix, and if they ask with what, say "I don't know" lol.  Very very handsome boy you've got there
    • Gold Top Dog
looking at his pic again, there is no doubt that he is husky...but its possible he has some wolf in there too.i see what could be some wolfy traits...with so much a husky look,i would be curious as to what behaviors he shows...he is a big boy at 5 months...same size as Kuruk at this stage.. the next few months should be very telling...

I just did an "image google" on red and white SHs and he does look just like one!

He is huge!!! Compared to my puppy.

    Good Luck with him

He does mouth albows and hands only when someone is tryingto hurt you though

Ummm, so this dog lives outside?  Tied up with a chain used to tow vehicles?  And he digs because he's likely bored out of his skull, and you use a choke chain on him because he hasn't been taught leash manners and sometimes he hurts himself with it?  And he's dog agressive and sometime people agressive?  Have you given him ANY formal training?  Does he have SHELTER outside?  I didnt see a dog house in your pictures.

Yes,  I think it would be kindest to rehome him, but you're going to have to disclose all his issues....I doubt that attempting to bite a person who is attacking you will be held against him.

there are a whole slew of problems related to this type of dog that you need to be aware of,if he does posses any WD in him..depends on the content, either high or low.

unless your willing to make it a full time commitment from now until he is in his old age,i would look for a sanctuary,or a person with time, preferably no kids,or at least someone who is a responsible parent ,and will take all the neccesary precations to keep this guy healthy and good natured..

the reason these guys get a bad name, like other breeds,is 99% of the time these are brought into a home that isnt ready to deal with the special needs..

he needs a kennel...at least 12'X 12' with a roof and floor made out of wood..or something he cant dig through..here is an example.the doh house ought to bve more den like than a standerd house...the hole in the shed leads to a box in the shed that is 3 feet high, about 30 inches wide and 80 inches long.

he cannot be left in this area all the time tho,....we only use this for sleeping..otherwise he will get very bored, distructive, and may turn very shy and shy aggressive if not socialized...you need at this point to get him into somekind of training..they are very intelligent and need stimulation...play and excersize...

these dogs DO NOT do well on a chain...a run is a bit better, but once they are older,i wouldnt trust one with ours...the best bet is to fence in a large area..even then you need to bury the fence at least 2 or 3 feet underground and make it 8 to 10 feet tall...they will climb...and can tear though chain link if they are determined.they need suppervision these dogs do alot better in 2 or more dog families..

good luck...i hope you do whats best for both of you...remember,one bite  can ruin both lives...the part that is hard is that they are gorgeous dogs, and that also leads into alot of trouble...

...I doubt that attempting to bite a person who is attacking you will be held against him.

tell that to the judge when you have to go to court and it is your word against someone elses...the dog always loses...and seeing this particular dog,if he acts that way in front of animal control,it would be a foregone conclusion that he would be taken away and probably put down..

these dogs can be trained..they are highly intelligent...what takes the most work is the challenging nature of these pups...especially if they are more high content..
