    Can you guys help?

Hi everyone. I'm new here. [:)] I got my puppy Rupert when he was 9 wks. He just turned 5 months old. I was told he was Rotti/Lab mix. But the vet then told me he was probably Rotti/Chow mix. What do you all think?

Here are some more pictures to go off of.

I see the Rottie, but not sure about the other.  Does his tail curl or is it straight? Whatever he is, he's darned cute!

Yes, his tail is curled. And he has spots on his tongue. But from what other people have been telling me. It's common for alot of other breeds to have spots on their tongues too.

He is very cute and the biggest sweetheart ever. [;)]

My sister in law had a labxrott mix that was really one of the nicest, best dogs ever.  Sweet, mellow guy.  Either way, Rupert is awfully cute.  If he were mine, I'd just call him a lab mix and leave it at that.  People and insurance companies can get a little strange about rotts and chows.

What about Lab/Dobe? He seems so slender for a Rott mix. I don't see any Chow... Lab's a good bet though.

I was thinking maybe Dobe too, but when I look at a pic of one, I just don't see it other than the markings. His sister has the same markings as him but LONG hair. And his brother was opposite markings (tan w/ black).

He used to be really fat and full. But the past month he's hit a growth spurt and gotten taller and leaner.

IMO most dogs are what s reffered to as a Heinz 57. I say this because I have been living almost 3 years in Puerto Rico and I know that a dog with black and tan markinds is not necessarily a Rottie mix or that a big furry black dog with a patch on his eye is not a chow/lab/dal mix.

Alot of people say, I think its a Lab/Rottie/Akita/Coonhound mix, but really, do you think a lab will go off and mate with a Rottie whos pup will just happen to mate with an Akita who will just casually mate with a Coonhound? I dont think so.

"Heinz 57's" are awsome dogs too! You dont need to have a dog that is supposedly a mix of purebred just to have a good pet! Most of my fosters have been mutts without recognizable breeds and they are awsome. In fact my last foster was a pregnant mutt who had a chi/mutt mix and you could not tell there was any chi in her

Years ago, my first dog was a lab/rot mix. Her mother was a beautiful female rot, and the father was a black lab from up the street. Out of that litter, Sadie and two others were solid black. The others were black with the tan markings. Sadie had a curled tail. She also had the same look on her face, but no brown.

I'd definitely say lab/rot with the possibility of another similar breed.

The long hair in the littermate really points to the Heiz 57.  He's got strong purebred characteristics, however - you can really see either Dobe or Rott - two related breeds.

Completely random breeding tends to produce dogs that are "drifted" genetically to the dominant characteristics:  long coats disappear, black and ee yellow dominate, ears go up, heads get more wolfy/foxy, tails curl, size moderates.

I agree with the person that said it's most helpful to say Lab mix.  He looks very nice.

I'd say Rotx don't know what with but a cutie, he's at a good weight for 5 month's Rotts usaully don't really fill out till after 2 sometimes as late as 3.

Can't guess on the breed (besides adorable), but just wanted to say, "Welcome!" from one Rupert Mommy to another. [:)]

I think I see more lab than chow - whatever he is, he's awfully cute. [:D] I agree, if anyone asks, just say he's a lab mix.

Thanks! I saw you on here and was amazed! Everyone thinks my dog's name is weird and asks "Whyd you know him that?". And then I saw your dog and was VERY pleased!! [8D]
