New Here, Looking for Breed ID Help

Hello all, new member here.  My name's Dave and our new pound puppy's name is Luna.  She is around 9-10 weeks old and was picked up by animal control as a stray so I have NO history on her.  She is a wonderful pup, very smart.  I've been trying to ID her breed mix and was wondering if you all could offer some ideas.  It is just for my own curiosity, she's an absolute joy no matter what breed(s) she might be.

Very cute! I'd say she's mostly Pitbull or AmStaff.

take care in the sun, white dogs can sunburn quite easily, and does her hearing seem a-okay to you? All white dogs can sometimes have issues with their hearing...she looks very easy to love and she's lucky to have found you![;)] welcome!

The color screams American Bulldog or Dogo Argentina, but it's tough to tell until the dog gets a bit older.  She's got the right ears for an AB, but her muzzle is awfully long.  I don't know if they grow into their muzzles or not.  There's also the possibility of a Pit mix, but a Lab/Pointer cross will often look like a Pit too.  When she grows into herself a bit, it'll be easier to tell.

She gets plenty of shade in the back yard and if we are going to the park she get a little kids sunblock on her ears and nose.

I haven't had her hearing professionally checked (BEAR testing?) but she will respond to snaps and whistles when she can't see you, so she has some hearing.

Oh and to help with ID she is 17lbs, and like I said the pound guessed her to be 9-10 weeks old.

Well she looks like a sweetheart, that's for sure! Congratulations on your new puppy!

I thought Dogo when I first saw her too, but she is developing some black spots in her fur.

    I'll say what I usually do..lol.

Think of the MOST commonly seen breeds in your shelters, running loose or owned by people you've seen acting irresponsibly (not spay/neutering, confining their animals, signs for 'free puppies' in their yards)...and you have likely candidates for producing random bred puppies that end up in shelters.

Add in also that some shelters have taken to either saying 'i dunno', or picking some other similar breed to avoid tagging  a dog as a PB to avoid the stupidity of SOME of the ;public who in many cases have sterotypes about that breed or mixes of that breed. IMO that beats the other shelters who EUTHANIZE or refuse to adopt out PB/mixes at all [:@]

These "common" breeds certainly vary state to state or even  zip to zip lol! But here we always have plenty of Lab x's, Pit X's, and GSD X's in our shelters and on our streets or 'lost dog' flyers...

Always good fun to guess at breeds, isn't it? [:)]
