    IW people

[:(]  Any Irish Wolfhounds out there......I know my dog had siblings, and my previous dog had siblings, but we never seem to hear from any IW people.  Don't get me wrong, as I own a German Shepherd and also a coonhound, but it would be great to trade info and chat with IW folks

I wish I could have an IW.  I met some at the last dog show I went to and they were so sweet.  They actually didn't seem as big as everyone says they are.  Do they get up to 34" or 36"?  I've heard both and the ones I met were like 32".

According to the breed standard, he minimum height of males is 32 inches and females, 30 inches, but it's desired to be between 32 and 34 inches.  We had a couple come into the office when I worked for my vet.  Such sweet, gentle dogs.

I see a woman walking her IW all the time in a town near me and I always want to stop and ask about her dog but don't quite know how to do it.  They are fascinating animals - so noble and gentle looking. Christi

I absolutely love the IWs and the SDHs.  Even though I was offered an SDH pup I had to refuse b/c I don't have the room for one.  I know they need to run...but only when they need to run.  I am hoping to get a house with a fenced in yard so I'll be able to give one of these gentle giants a good home.

i love IW's they are beautiful dogs!!!! i wanted one for the longest time, but ill stick wth my danes..even though they are the tallest breed of dog, they really dont seem tall to me, maybe because most of the danes i know are about the same height as the IW's ive seen..but if i had the patience to have another hound around id definatly think about getting one

Was looking more closely at your pics????do you course your dog???? She appears to be lean and have the makings of an excellent runner.  The bulkier wolfhounds don't do very well in the coursing, but you can really see the greyhound influence in her long legs and long body.

We have allways wanted one.I have been resarching them for years but alas they are impossible to find in my area. You cant even find them on petfinder. Most listed arent wolfhounds at all but just random  mixes of all shapes and sizes.Someday i will find one!Or he will find me!Untill then you cant do too much research!

I don't know where you are, but there are dog shows all over the country.  If go to infodog.com and search by state you could find one nearby.  Go to the show and talk to the IW people.  Talk to any sighthound people.  The dog show world is pretty small and it seems that everybody knows somebody who is whelping soon.

We live in Northern NY ,mostly farm country out here. There is a small show here once in a while but not much.Thats the trouble with living in a remote area. The largest nearby city would be Watertown.I used to go to a few with my mother when i was a kid,she showed Huskys,We traveled quite a bit.I am unable to do that with 5 kids and nine dogs currently in residence.Maybe after some of our fosters find thier homes we can. That is if we dont fill up again once they are gone! Thats the problem with dog fostering, thare are allways more of them than there are foster homes to put them in.Owning my dream dog might have to wait for the sake of others that need me more.
