My son adores basset hounds, and is quite upset with Mom and Dad who keep bringing Irish wolfhounds home....along with assorted adoptees of all shapes and sizes. They are wonderful tempered and adorable dogs though, and perhaps next time we add to our household with an adoptee, I will find one at the shelter and my son can finally be happy. A hound is a hound though and bassetts, while very loving, can be cussed as the devil when the mood suits them. Don't let their diminutive size fool you-They have greater bone density than any other dog relative to their size and weight, and they also carry alot of muscle to move those bones around. They can be strong as an ox and about as stubborn as a mule-all the time looking at you with those soulful eyes
