    Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix or Mini Eskie?

See the little guy in my signature?  That's Baxter, my foster.  When I received him from the woman giving him up, I was told he was a Pomeranian/Chihuahua cross.  A friend of mine, jayjayelleman on this board, told me that he looked like her mini Eskie, Jack, and she's right.  He does.

At the moment, that is the best picture I have of him, but I plan on taking more soon.  He does have light tan around his eyes, the backs of his ears and a large patch on his back.  He was 10.2 pounds at his last vet visit.

What do you think he is?

He's probably a Chi/Pomeranian.  His muzzle's not quite the right shape for an eskie.  He might even be a Pom/Eskie cross.   That would make a lot of sense.

As far as the tan spots on the ears and back, your dog is technically not white to begin with.  He is a very light  cream.  White is the total lack of pigment and the skin would also lack the pigment.  He has a black nose, eye rims, and lips, though, which are pigmented.  Most dogs that are commonly thought of as white are actually a light cream.  For instance:  Eskie dogs, Samoyeds, Great Pyrenees, Maltese, and Bichons.  It is common for such a dog to have the cute little tan spots.

    He's unbearably cute though!

I am obviously an eskie fan.  When I saw his picture on another post, I thought he looked like pictures I have seen of a skinny mini American Eskimo.  He is a cutie.  Give him snuggles for me.

he is def. a chihuahua mix, look at his face, its all chihuahua, just bigger, and the muzzle is a bit wider, but his face is pure chihuahua. As for the other part I have no clue...lol

I think I'm going to go with all American Mutt.  [:D]  Depending on how I look at him, I can see Chi and Pom, but I can also see Eskie.  Heck, who knows, maybe he's all three and then some.

I was curious.  Thanks everyone.  I might just list him as a Chihuahua mix or something.  The home he gets after mine, if I don't decide to keep him, won't care much.  It'll be a good home.  Gotta love rescue work!
